June 24, 2019 Report (Bonefish Video!)

Celebrating their 28th wedding anniversary, Paul and Dawn came from Sarasota to spend some time in Miami and got flats fishing. The hunt started off with permit but with only one shot and a couple of fish spotted I decided to change it up and that was the ticket. At the first spot, even before I could kill the engine, the schools of bonefish were everywhere! I turned off the motor, pinned a shrimp to the rods and the actions started. They had some really good shots but missed them by just a few feet until... I spotted another school behind the boat, Paul saw them flash and made a great cast. Moments later I hear "I'm on!". A nice fight later he had a nice Biscayne Bay bonefish in his hands. The day wrapped up looking for more permit.

I had Creigh and his dad Creigh today. The last time Creigh and I fished we were fly fishing for tarpon and he had two bites but were surrounded by tarpon all day. Today was a bit different. We were bonefishing on fly and spin. The guys had some solid shots at so BIG fish in slick water but no commits so we changed course and got some barracudas sight casted on lures. Very cool!

Long time friends and co workers Sam and Chris were in for a half day and with a bit of a breeze we started off bonefishing where Sam caught a small shark. Leaving that spot we hit a snapper spot and the guys had a blast catching dinner and keeping the rods bent on snappers and barracudas. What a fun trip with these guys today!

Family time today for Wei, James and their son Steven as we hot some wrecks and flats and I made sure they caught tons of fish and were happy. Wei didn't fish as she was the photographer but James and Steven had a blast catching snappers, trigger fish, grouper, yellow jacks, runners, rainbow runners and sharks. At the end of the trip they were thrilled and so was I to fish with such a great family. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

It was good to see Ken again as we hadn't fished in some years. This was a special day though because he brought his awesome 6 year old, Gianna. The goal was to keep her busy and boy did we. Along the way we had to dodge a few storms but it was never an issue. Towards end her hands were sore and we were glad she had a great time.

I had the triple threat again on board today with Patrick, Julie and Allysa. This family is always great and today was no different. We started off bonefishing and had some shots but no hook ups so we fished some wrecks where they went through 120 baits in no time then hit the flats for sharks but they were MIA. Capt. From California came Roger and his son Zach with a desire to wet a line since they don't do much of that back home. Boy did we have great conditions and caught a ton of fish on some shallow wrecks then turned our attention to the flats for sharks where Zach got a nice one and Roger lost another one at the end of the trip.

June 13, 2019 Report (Bonefish)

After a day off out of town I was back to work today with David. Over the last few years I've been working out of David's boat when he books me but today I told him to dump the 32' open fisherman and come to Homestead to fish the skinny water. It didn't take long to get his first shot at bonefish and after a few tries, he hooked up and landed a solid bonefish. Way to go David! A few more shots later we crossed the bay and shark fished and had a blast on big lemon sharks. Awesome day and pumped that David got another bonefish!

What a difference a day makes. Jim and his two boys Bill and Jim had perfect conditions today and made the most of it. Of course we started bonefishing and ended up hooking four and landing one. Urgh, just one of those days, we should've had many more! We wrapped it up on a wreck where the guys went through 7 dozen shrimp in short order. What a great day with great people. Congrats Jim on your first bonefish!

After too many days off I was back to work today with Richard, Margaret and Charlie but had terrible conditions. We ran way south to get away fro, the storms only to have them follow us. We made the best of it and caught snappers. I tried to get them some hard fighting black tip sharks but they wouldn't eat. What a day! Capt. I had regular client Gonzalve and his two friends, Greg and Jake for a half day. We had plenty of shots at bonefish but each cast was just a bit short so we switched it up, caught a ton of fish, used some for sharks and had a blast catching sharks on the flats. Capt. May 30, 2019 Report (Bonefish Video)

Dan has been living in Miami for 10 years and never caught a bonefish so that was the goal today. Getting to the first flat of the morning proved to be the ticket as he got a nice chunky ten pounder early on. Nice work Dan! Afterwards we looked for more bones and found some but the fishing was tough today.

It was Preston's birthday gift and his dad Jack took him fishing. Preston hadn't caught a bonefish on fly before so that was the goal. With some tough conditions we found some bonefish and he hooked one on fly that broke off immediately. URGH! The rest of the day he had some shots but it was tough with some wind and overcast conditions. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFIshing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

I started the morning today trying to get Chris and his wife Jen their first bonefish but it didn't work out. Deciding to ensure they caught some fish we fished two shipwrecks where they tore it up and them on the flats Chris hooked a big lemon shark that sizzled the reel on a LONG run before coming off next to the boat after a long tough fight. Working out of Homestead again I had Mike and his wife Kari who wanted to catch stuff, lots of anything. Well, they did just that and they had a blast catching snapper, small grouper, trigger fish, yellow jacks, blue runners and more. Capt. I had Frank and his wife this morning and we focused only on tarpon. It started off well with Frank hooking about a 140lb tarpon which gave him some incredible jumps before coming off. The rest of the trip was a waiting game for the next bite that never came. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFIshing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

May 24, 2019 Report

I had Al on board today and we were fly fishing. Tarpon was the first target and we found them but they were holding deep and not really a fly target at this point so we moved on to bonefish where we had some opportunities but no go. The day wrapped up on more tarpon where we were surrounded by them but they had lockjaw but there were schools of big jacks around however, the significant wind made it tough to make the long cast required to get to them without spooking them out.
