April 2, 2015 Report

Kurt and his 2 kids fished with me back in the fall and today they were back for a little tarpon fishing and then catching what was around. We got a solid tarpon bite but the fish never got hooked. Then we moved off and got into some bluefish and had a triple header going at one point then off to another spot where we ended the day catching a variety of snappers and losing a grouper or two on almost every cast.

Father/son charters are always a blast and Patrick and his son Graham were no exception. From the moment we got to our spot for the day the rods were bent and stayed bent. Along the way there were tarpon around and we had one eat our bait but spit it out before we could come tight. Urgh!

George and his son took a day to go fishing and catch some fish on fly. The goal was to target a number of species on fly and then go looking for bonefish. We did all the above and landed a half dozen species on fly, and had some shots at bonefish. These were really good fly casters and even better people.

Day two with Dave and it was a continuation of the previous day although today we had much less wind and were able to fish other areas we were restricted from the day prior. We had a number of different species landed and had a great time. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBonefishing.com 786-853-1409

Dave and his wife hopped aboard to enjoy the weather and catch some fish. The weather was certainly gorgeous and although we didn't land any tarpon, we did catch a number of different species and had a great time.

March 28, 2015 Report

Tony from Ohio and part time resident of Marco Island jumped aboard with his daughter to fly fish for tarpon, bonefish and permit. The weather had other plans for us though. We faced a stiff 20 MPH north wind all day that became difficult to fish in on fly. The day was centered around fishing leeward areas where there have been tarpon. There were tarpon around and we ended the day surrounded by tarpon and ended up getting a take on fly but no hook ups. Tough day today! Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409

March 27, 2015 Report (Tarpon)

Regular client and friend David just took delivery of his new 32' Intrepid and wanted to break it in on some tarpon. Conditions were tough with a stiff south wind that had the water dirty but with so many fish in this area I had little doubt success would come. On our 3rd drift one of the rods doubles over, the reels starts to scream and 130lbs of raging tarpon jumps 6' in the air. After numerous jumps and several runs we got the leader release on the big tarpon in 20 minutes. Nicely done David!
