July 27, 2019 Report (Bonefish Video)

I had Mike and his 10 year old grandson Webb aboard as part of a two boat trip. They had bonefish in mind and we had perfect conditions for just that. After taking some shots at a bunch of bonefish, they shook the rust off and Mike was the first one to score. After a healthy release of his first bonefish ever Webb was next. We had more opportunities and finally Webb made a great cast, had some patience and hooked up! After a nice fight, Webb released his first bonefish ever. The total tally for the day was 5 bites, 3 hook ups and two fish released. What a morning but more importantly, what an accomplishment for a 10 year old. Webb is very good casting and a great young little fisherman and I am so very proud of him!

July 25, 2019 Report (Bonefish Video!)

I was pretty excited today to fish with David and his son Joseph (that's two Josephs on consecutive days) and I got them out of bed early. With a 6:30AM start, the guys were on about 3 hours sleep but they sure didn't show it. Armed with spinning rods the guys got on the bow and had shots at bonefish but conditions were not ideal. However, as we poled along I saw a subtle disturbance in the water and the guys cast, moments later David was on to a bonefish as it screamed away at almost 30 MPH. After a long fight we boated the slob bonefish. Some shots later I see a flash to my left, Joseph cast and he got a bite but missed it. Later we hit a snapper and saw something I rarely get to see out here. But, you'll have to watch the video to find out!

July 24, 2019 Report (Bonefish Fest, Video!)

Jose and his son Joseph are local Miami anglers and we had rescheduled a few times due to weather but today was the day. It was red hot bonefishing from the moment we got on the flat and never moved for 4 hours. Joseph got his first bonefish, 3 to be exact and Jose got one and hooked 5. What a morning of perfect conditions, good anglers and hungry bonefish!

July 21, 2019 Report

Sunday is the busiest day in the bay so when Glenn and his family jumped aboard, it was time to make a long run south and get away from it all. Glenn and his family were on a quick vacation since Glenn is in between jobs right now. See, last yer he played for the Detroit Pistons and he just got signed by the Golden State Warriors. Also, on the agenda was dinner so the first spot produced plenty of snapper but not big ones. However, Jaden and Glenn both got to fight two barracudas in the 20lb range. The last spot was money as Glenn landed a solid mutton snapper for dinner. Way to go guys!

July 19, 2019 Report (Bonefish)

Having great conditions today for early morning bonefishing, I suggested to Joe and his wife Sarah we should target them first before targeting their bucket list species, barracuda. So, we hit the first flat and right off the bat Sarah hooks a nice bonefish but looses it at the boat, about a 9lber. Joe got his bonefish and we had two more bites we missed. After getting some live bait, we hot the flats where Joe and Sarah got their barracudas. Great trip with great people today!

Local and regular client Henry joined me today with his friend Jake and his Shiba, Teddy. This was an afternoon trip with a huge low tide and little water on the flats. So, we hit the flats first and they hooked a couple of sharks. Then with almost no water on the flats we hit a wreck and they took home fresh fish dinner.

I had local anglers and Aregentina transplants Rodrigo and his two boys, Fuca and Franco. We bonefished for a while but it was slow so we hit a ship wreck and they were able to get warmed up and Rodrigo catch a few fish on fly. Back on the flats they caught sharks and a few barracuda fell victim to flies.

Bernd is from Germany and his wife and daughter came along. I took them to a shipwreck where they caught a bunch of snappers and used some for bait once we hit the flats. On the flats they caught sharks and hooked barracudas.

My trip today was with Scott and we had a great time. With fly rod in hand we had to stick close to Key Biscayne but found tarpon and bonefish to throw a fly at. Briefly switching to spinning rods and soft plastics we had a tarpon eat the soft plastic but not get hooked. Capt. Well, well, well, I had a defensive lineman for the Pittsburg Panthers, a new rival for my Miami Hurricanes football team. His name was Devine and I tormented him all morning. Joining him were David and Grayson. No bonefishing today but we caught some bait and hit the flats for sharks where the guys had a blast hooking about a half dozen sharks.

July 5, 2019 Report

Bob and Sue were very cool people and they wanted to try saltwater fishing for the first time since they live here 6 months out of the year. Bonefishing was tough so we targeted snapper and got things warmed up. Then we hit the flats again and there Bob fought a 30lb barracuda for a while before losing it close to the boat and they also caught some cool sharks.

I had William and Haley this morning for a quick trip for bones and permit. We were fly fishing and with perfect conditions they had plenty of shots at both but the casts were too close and the bones and permit would track the fly but too close to the boat and they would spook. July 1, 2019 Report (Permit and Bonefish Video)

Today was a spectacular day with some great people, Luis and his son Luis {jr) from Miami. With perfect conditions they had shots at bonefish from the moment we started poling and it only got better. A few shots later jr took a shot at a huge single bonefish about 12 pounds but missed the bite. Soon after, Luis takes a shot at a big wake and hooks up to a massive permit! The morning ended with jr catching two bonefish making up for the first one early on. Way to go guys!

Regular local clients Gary and Jake fished with me today but the third part of the terrible trio stayed home, Adam. Jake and Adam have a hilarious rivalry but Jake had no competition today, or so he thought. His dad Gary light his butt up out fishing him and having a blast along the way. These guys are always great to fish with and I look forward to fishing with them again.

June 29, 2019 Report

I had a blast fishing with Bart and Andrew this morning. Again, the weather was iffy but all offshore of us as we hit a wreck and caught some fish but no biggies. We moved off to the flats and there we scored a 30lb barracuda for Andrew and a nice shark seconds later for Bart.

Well, today was a disaster! I had Joey, John and Andrew for a 2pm to 6pm trip. The weather was tough but looked fishable. As I tried to run south the storms started to build and we had to call it a day by 3:30pm. That sucked!

June 26, 2019 Report (Tailing Bonefish Video)

The last time Matt was on board a few months ago he booked a massive bull shark and his buddy landed a slob tarpon. Today we were targeting bonefish and we had perfect conditions. He had plenty of shots and came close too many times to not score, On one of the last shots he made a perfect cast and the school of bonefish swam over the bait, swirled, ate it but never got hooked. Ouch! I'll have nightmares over this one.
