June 15, 2015 Report

After a much needed vacation, I was back on the water today with Josh. We were looking for tarpon but found very few and got no bites. So, with half the trip almost over we decided to change tactics. Fishing a small tarpon and snook spot Josh caught a few jacks on artificial when one of the rods goes off and line starts to scream. At the end of the battle a massive snook came aboard and filled two objectives at once, Josh's first snook and his biggest. Ok Josh, time to check that one off the list!

Philip and his son Kristen are locals but don't fish as often as they would like. Today however, that would change. The first spot was slow but spot number two produced right away and we didn't have to move the rest of the trip. Kristen eventually had to take a break from the hot action and Philip caught a nice shark that kept circling the wreck. Philip and Kristen decided to head in early and Philip's comment to me was "you kicked his butt." That's what it's all about! Capt. Today was the last day Paul and Neil would be fishing before going back to Maryland and as always we had a blast. While we didn't hook any tarpon today, we did mix it up and caught a number of different species on lighter tackle. I can't wait for them to come down again next year. Capt. The Paul and Neil show continued today and the fishing kept slowing down. However, we did hook a tarpon and Paul fought it for a bit until the hook pulled during the final stages of the fight. June 4, 2015 Report (Tarpon!)

With the weather forecast looking absolutely horrible we made the call to cancel our trip on Wednesday only to find great weather. Urgh! Oh well, we hit the water today and Paul got another nice tarpon to the boat while Neil lost a few others to spit hooks. These guys are great and tomorrow we continue our adventures.

Day two with Paul and Neil and the tarpon fishing was slow. Amazing how things change one day to the next! We did get a hook up but lost the fish after a brief fight. June 1, 2015 Report (Tarpon!)

Paul and Neil fished with me for 5 days last year and we had a blast last year so I couldn't wait to fish with them again. We started early and had a solid day going 2-7 on tarpon with both Paul and Neil getting their fish of the week at around 140-150lbs each. We had a blast, the tarpon bite was on and hooked into some real bruisers. This is what tarpon season is all about!
