July 28, 2015 Report (Bonefish!)

Shawn and his buddy Austin jumped aboard for a full day of bonefishing and the bones did not disappoint today. Early in the morning we set up and worked a flat with the beginning of the outgoing tide and not long after Shawn's rod doubles over and soon he had his first bonefish in his hands a few pictures to prove it. Austin was up next and just a few minutes later his rod doubles over and he's on to his first bonefish! Unfortunately the hook pulled and we never got the release. Another big bonefish moved in but never ate and off we went to change it up. Fishing a few different spots proved slow but Shawn did land a few more different species including losing what was probably a nice snook on artificial. Great day today!

July 27, 2015 Report

Drew and his brother Chris had fished with me back in February and were in town with Drew's son Tommy for a boys weekend. The goal was to fish for bonefish and permit since last time they came down we never hit the flats. The fishing was overall slow but we did have shots at a few schools of bonefish cruising, feeding and tailing just 20' from the boat! They did catch a few sharks, snapper and other species and I look forward to fishing with them again. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

July 25, 2015 Report

Patricia, her husband Carlos and their four kids had never been fishing and wanted to try something different for the kids. With a second boat in the mix to all 6 of them we headed out near the marina. We tried a few different spots and found fish on almost all of them including losing a few groupers to structure below and about 30 fish being landed by the two kids on my boat and Patricia. The kids had a blast, Patricia and Carlos caught some fish as well and told me they would definitely be back to take the kids out again. That's what it's all about, introducing kids to fishing and watching parents spend time with their kids! Capt. July 24, 2015 Report (Bonefish!)

Scott boarded my skiff this morning before boarding a plane back home to GA this afternoon and the conditions were good for bonefishing so off we went. It took a few flats before we found them but when we did they were all over the place! School after school came through and Scott had a number of shots at schools of bonefish. One school moves in and he makes a good cast, lets it sit, feels the take and the rod doubles over! Just for an instant though and the bonefish was gone the hook never having caught. No worries, another school moves in, Scott makes another good cast, I see the school of bones move over his bait and I tell him to wait. Suddenly he tells me "he took it!", Scott reels up and the bonefish is on his way to making a fast bonefish run. We got the release and some pics and ended the trip casting to a few more schools. I love summer!

July 22, 2015 Report

David from Pennsylvania had fished with me back in February and today we has back with his 16 year old son Tommy. Tommy doesn't fish much since he is busy playing a number of high school sports but today he had some time to relax with dad. The goal was to look for some tarpon but ensure we caught some fish. Our hunt for tarpon proved unsuccessful as our resident fish weren't around but other species were. Tommy did a great job on a number of species and kept the rid bent and fish coming into the boat rather regularly, he looked like a pro. It's always good to fish with fathers and their kids and today was a lot of fun with these guys.

July 20, 2015 Report

Vince and his friend had fished with me back in February and today he boarded with his brother Max and his nephew Lucas. Lucas had never been fishing before and was anxious to see what it was all about. The fishing started slow due to the slack tide but I reassured them as soon as the tide turned things would get better. And they did! Once we had a good current flow the fishing turned on and Lucas had his hands full. He had the hot hand today and landed the two biggest mutton snappers, the most fish and hooked the biggest fish, one that burned up the drag and gave him a scorching 10 minute fight, even chasing the fish with the boat barely helped. Once Lucas began to make some head way on the fish it broke him off on the bottom. NO! Along the way we had several double hook ups and a triple hook up for good measure. What a morning!

July 17, 2015 Report (Orvis fly fishing school)

Today was day two of the Orvis' kids fly fishing school and casting instructor Chris and his two students, brothers Drew and Will were on board. I decided to forgo the hot bonefish action and get them on easier game so off to a nearby spot we went. Upon anchoring the spot came alive with baitfish all over, small rolling tarpon and other explosions we couldn't quite identify. Drew landed a blue runner on his fly rod and Will got cut off by what was more than likely a barracuda and lost a few other fish. The trip ended in the same creek from yesterday and the snappers were there but the kids missed the hook set on a few fish there. The brothers were also great and off to a great start and Chris was excellent with them and fun to fish with. Capt.
