June 9, 2017 Report (Tarpon!)

After a week of constant rain and storms this was the first day we had with clear weather and regular client Brandon and his friend Scott were able to get in some fishing. We dedicated most of our trip to tarpon fishing and Brandon hooked two fish, the first one about 150lbs and the second about 100lbs. Both came off but the 100 lber was close to the boat ready for a release when the hook pulled. Ouch! The bite slowed and we moved where we found a bunch of tarpon but these boys were not sitting still and were very difficult to fish but the guys aught a few other fish along the way.

We've had some tough weather the last few days and today started off ok and got worst quick! Will is a retired MLB player and was aboard today taking a break from calling the Marlins/Diamond Backs game. We started tarpon fishing and that proved slow so we switched it up and he caught about 6-8 species in short order but that slowed down as well and the weather was starting to take a turn for the worst. We quickly caught a few trout, saw a nasty storm approaching, looked at the radar and called it a day 2 1/2 hours into our 4 hour charter. Capt. Regular local angler Gary and his two boys hopped aboard today for some rod bending action for the kids. They had a great time catching runners and mutton snapper and then we hit the flats for sharks where Jake landed a nice 5 foot lemon shark. Capt. Today was one of those when the fish were all over the place and Owen and Lisa were able to experience it. We fished five spots and 4 of the 5 held either bonefish, permit, or redfish. We had plenty of opportunities but with casts being off just a few feet there were no hook ups although a few of the casts were on the money and we got a big refusal. At one spot we had school after school of big tailing bonefish tailing just 30 feet away! Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

Today, less than 24 hours later we had slick calm conditions for John. The fish were piky today but we finally hooked big tarpon that almost spooled us and broke off with two wraps left on the spool. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

Today I faced even tougher condition with 30-35 mph winds. Along for the ride were Daniel, Fredrick and Christian from Sweden. With not many options available we hit the grass flats and they caught trout. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing
