January 1, 2018 AM & PM Report (Video)
AM
Happy New Year! Jude was back on board today at 8am, tough kid, ready to redeem himself from our last trip when he lost a big bull shark. Today we targeted tarpon but they wouldn't feed so we quickly switched off to sharks and he had a ball hooking a number of them and landing a couple. Way to go Jude!
PM
Pierce brought his son along for my afternoon trip and with shark fishing being so good in the morning and the tarpon spots blown out we targeted sharks. Well, it didn't take long to hook up and we did quickly and often. After his son landing his shark, tough kid!, Pierce focused on getting one and that was an epic battle. After losing a few he finally had a solid connection and after an hour fight I knew it was a big bull shark. Well, towards the end of the fight the reel failed and I had to handline the shark to the boat, an estimated 200lb bull shark, while Pierce turned the spool by hand in order to take up the line. We got the beast next to the boat, took some pics and broke him off. All this while a cruise ship was barreling towards us. Whew!!!!
Now, it's time for a vacation. See you guys in 10 days!

December 31, 2017 Report (Permit video)
AM Report
The streak is over and just in time too! I can breathe a sigh of relief and have new hope for 2018! My morning trip with David and his friend Stephen was full of obstacles and time constraints, suffice it to say that out of a 4 hour trip we fished about 45 minutes. However, we got it done. At the only spot we could fish given our time constraints I had a feeling there were some permit around so we pulled in to the spot, dropped a crab, put the rod in the holder and immediately the rod doubled over. Stephen grabbed the rod and 15 minutes later he had a slob permit to the boat, his first and the best way to close out 2017. Way to go Stephen!
PM Report
After finishing up my morning trip and enjoying the glory of catching a permit (My favorite fish) I picked up Jose and his kids 7 year old Fernando and 4 year old Camila. These are the cutest kids and Jose is a great dad! We had so much fun and laughed so hard as Fernando was struggling to catch fish (refusing any help) while Camila was tearing it up with dad and offering to help Fernando. What a way to end 2017, great fish and great people. I love my clients and my job!

Toomy and Patrick are part of a family get together that consisted of 50 family members, and that was just a small part of the family since they have 300 cousins! WOW! They were part of a 6 boat charter and I took them to the beach to look for tarpon. Once again the tarpon were there but today they were on the move! These guys were in big schools but were heading north at a brisk pace so we had to locate the school, set up in front of them, cast, wait for the school to pass then repeat. In the process we hooked two tarpon but they both came off. The last stop was a grass flat where the kids caught a bunch of sea trout and had a great time!
PM Report
I had fished with Haroldo and his brother Diogo from Brazil last year and they had a great time so when their friend Felipe was in town they were kind enough to recommend me to them so Felipe, his dad Luis and friend Andres fished with me this afternoon. They wanted to experience some big fish and with tarpon conditions being poor so late in the day we hot sharks. I'm, glad we did because it was on fire. The guys hooked almost a dozen sharks and they each got one, well, not Andres poor guy. We worked hard to get him one but it was not to be. Well, done guys!

December 29, 2017 AM & PM Report (Tarpon Video)
AM Report
Bob and his son were my morning trip and they were great! We ran the beach for tarpon since we finally had some good conditions and hooked four tarpon losing all of them. What a bummer! There are a lot of tarpon off the beach and the fish have been very cooperative. We ran back inshore for the balance of the trip where they got a big bull shark after a tough 40 minute fight. These guys were great and I love watching dads spend time with their kids.
PM Report
Here we go, jumping on David's boat again for my afternoon trip and I was holding my breath. He wanted to target sharks for his guests and we did. Thankfully the sharks were thick and we hooked 5 in short order. Although we lost all 5, it's hopefully the start of lifting the dark cloud that has lingered over his boat.

Local angler and regular client Guillermo jumped aboard today with his two daughters, Bibi and Paola. The fishing was slow in the creeks for snook since the tide was too low so we hit some wrecks where the action was non-stop and wrapped it up catching trout although the trout fishing was slow.

AM Report
I'm starting to get concerned here with David's boat. We fished on his boat today and the fishing was absolutely dead as Joe and his crew experienced. I'll give you more insight into why I'm concerned in my report below.
PM Report
My afternoon trip was with brothers Daniel, Mushy and Benji. Incidentally, they are the nephews of David's friend Warren who had caught some nice tarpon with us last year at this time. In any event the fishing was red hot with the boys having their hands full with bend rods right from the get go. And this is why I'm concerned with David's boat. Maybe someone put a hex on it? Maybe it's fish mojo has run out? I don't know but today proved to me one very comforting truth, "It's not me, it's you"!

AM Report
My morning trip was with Ian, his brother Peter and his nephew Jude and being from England they wanted to catch different species. We hit one spot and that is all we needed. Here they had a blast catching jacks until some bull sharks moved in. This is when Jude had a blast as he is the angler in the family and hoked a nice bull shark that we were able to sight cast. After a long fight the bull jumped clear out of the water and broke him off. It was time to end the trip at this point and we headed back. Jude was amazed at the size and power of saltwater fish in general, especially sharks.
PM Report
My afternoon trip was with Dale and his son and our trip was a repeat of my morning trip bu we added sea trout to the list of species caught.
