March 12, 2018 Report (Tarpon Video)
Hansell and dad Charles or an absolute blast the fish with. We had a cold front approaching today so we hit the tarpon spot but no one was home and the other Tarpon spots were being covered up by a storm line that kept us further north and I would have liked. However we fished an area where I have seen Tarpon in the past and drifted back or crab while the guys got warmed up catching fish on almost every cast. After a little bit the big rod goes off and 79 year old Charles is tied into a hundred pound tarpon. Charles is a veteran and fought the fish like a pro getting it to the boat in about 20 minutes. Great job Charles!

Brother in-laws Dominic and Mark far from Canada and wanted to get into some Tarpon action. Once again we fished a few spots but tarpon fishing was slow so we try to go for the next best thing which would be sharks but that was a no-go. Wanting these guys the catch some stuff I thought on some artificials they had a blast catching a bunch of fish towards the end of the trip. Mark was right at home as he is a semi pro bass angler in Canada so throwing lures was right up his alley and the guys shined.

Today I was back in Miami fishing with Jeff and son Cameron. It's springtime so of course I have Tarpon on my mind and we hit a couple spots but there were very few fish around. We ended up fishing in grassflat where the guys had a blast keeping the rods bent on almost every cast on trout, blue fish, Lady Fish and a few other species.

Phil and Dave met me at Ocean Reef Club and off we went. They wanted to Ben rods and Phil had it fixed before so we needed to keep it fun and easy and that is what we did. We pulled into a creek and caught some Snappers and got Phil used to handling a rod all day was warming up on some fish as well. Keeping a few of the fish that we caught we ran over to the flats and started chumming for sharks where they each caught one and we called it early in order to make it back before the cold front that was approaching.

March 6th 2018 Report (Tarpon Video!)
Bob had fished with me back on December 29 and now he had referred his co-worker and boss Mike to fish with me as well. So Mike and his 13 year old son Slate jump in the boat and wanted to target Tarpon, Bonefish or permit. Having a half-day to work with and some awesome conditions how can you pass up Tarpon during Tarpon season. The first spot I only found a couple fish but the second spot was a mother load as we hooked up immediately on about a 150 lb fish. Unfortunately the hook broke and we lost the fish but it was early on in the trip. Not too long later the rod doubled over and Mike was on to about a 140lb fish that gave us a lot of big jumps and after hard fought 30 minute fight we got the fish next to the boat for a quick picture and a release. We ended the day with some trout action so the guy could take something home to eat and enjoyed a great day on the water today

From Minnesota came Jared and his father-in-law Kent for full day. Of course we had to target tarpon and found quite a few but they had lock jaw. Changing it up quite a bit they caught some sea trout and we also lost two sharks and had a nice day on the water with some action on different species.

March 4, 2018 Report (Tarpon video!)
Chris is a regular local client of mine and he brought along Blue and Sheridan. Turns out Sheridan had never caught a fish before so she was in for a big surprise. We pulled up to the first tarpon spot and found a bunch of fish which eventually turned on and we got a double header on with blue and Sheridan both hooked up. Unfortunately for Blue, hers jumped off on the first jump but Sheridan kept hers on and was in for her epic fight. After a long brutal fight we had the tarpon next to the boat only to have 12 to 13 foot hammerhead try to eat her tarpon. At this point we got the leader release and sent it off while chasing the shark and save the tarpon. Having to use the restroom, I took them to a waterside restaurant so we had breakfast together and then wrapped up the day catching a bunch of trout on the grass last. It was a great day with great people and I always enjoy fishing with these guys.
