May 17, 2018 Report
The nasty weather continues but Wes and I headed out anyway and got to fish 4 hours instead of the 8 hours we were scheduled for. However, we focused only on tarpon and found a few but they were on a diet. We'll be fishing tomorrow so we'll see what the weather is like.

Today's trip almost didn't happen. My trip was a 1pm-5pm out of Ocean Reef Club and there was lighting and rain all morning. However, I saw a small window and confirmed we were still on so off I went. I picked up my guys with storms all around us and some lighting just far enough to keep us on the lookout. With the poor conditions we decided to shark fish and ended up hooking a few fish including having a 6' hammerhead shark come up in 3 feet of water and try to eat the bait we pitched at it. So cool! As the trip progressed the weather improved and it ended up being a good day.

Walter and his buddy jumped aboard today and we began by tarpon fishing but that being slow we turned our attention to other species and caught some trout. The fishing was tough today and there was nasty weather all around us.

Today I fished with Rick aboard his 23 Albury. We hadn't fished in about two years so it was good to see him again. Onboard were his son Ricky and two friends. We were sticking to tarpon only and put in 5 hours of hard core fishing and while we found a bunch of tarpon, we couldn't get a bite. Not sure what was more frustrating, no tarpon bites or missing an permit bite. Urgh!

Back on David's boat today and he had two guests onboard. The goal was tarpon and as soon as we pulled in to the first spot I saw some tarpon rolling. The guys cast their crabs right at them and we got a solid hook up instantly but the tarpon came off on the first jump. After that they got shy and won't eat so we turned our attention to sharks where we hooked several but lost them all.

May 6, 2018 Report (Tarpon Video!)
Today was a fun day with a 2 boat trip going on and I had Darren, David and Gene on the boat with me. We started off at our first spot which took two minutes or less to get a tarpon on. After a long exciting fight and having to fend off a shark that was trying to eat our hundred pound Tarpon the three guys triple-teamed the Tarpon and we got it subdued and a release before the shark attacked it. That was definitely a win-win! We wrapped up the trip over some grass flats and although it started off slow I finally located the trout and these guys just absolutely slammed them.

I had some great guys on board today fishing with Tim, Johnny and Matt. We looked for Tarpon since Matt wanted to hook one but we found a few that were on a diet. Next on the list were sharks and again those were not very plentiful and the few that we found wouldn't eat. What's up with that? But we did finish the balance of the trip on the grass flats and these guys tore it up using lures. I had a blast with these guys and a great morning!
