November 1, 2019 Report (Tarpon Video!)

What a way to start November! I had Jill back on board today but her husband Bob was back at the hotel attending a conference. Well, well, well he would definitely regret that! Jill had caught plenty of fish two days ago with me and today she wanted to target tarpon. So, the hunting began! The first spot had a bunch of tarpon with lock jaw so we changed it up. Spot two had a bunch of fun jacks but we only saw one tarpon roll. Hmm, weird. Yeah, ok check this out. As we fished, my engine started going up all on it's own due to a trim switch short. This was not good! Well, the engine trimmed itself all the way up and a few minutes alter a 120lb tarpon eats Jill's bait and is off at full speed as my engine won't trim down and I can't chase it. Geeze! Somehow the I was able to trim down the motor and chase the fish but I had to keep my finger on the trim switch in order to prevent it from going up again. So, a 120lb tarpon going nuts, Jill on the fight, I'm trying to steer, record video and keep my finger on the trim switch. Once the fish settled down I turned off the battery switch and got the fish. Wow, awesome fish, awesome angler and it's had to beat the drama of today. I think I aged 5 years this morning!......

October 31, 2019 Report

Happy Halloween! Well, there were tricks and treats for Mike and Hank today on our afternoon trip. We started chasing bonefish and permit on the flats but with yet another week of king tides, the water level was really high and the fishing was tough. Towards the end of the trip they decided to change it up and with only 40 minutes left in the trip I saw some pelicans diving and we hit jack pot, throwing the cast net once and getting more bait than I needed. Going straight to a reliable spot, it didn't disappoint as the fish were busting and destroying the live chum I was tossing back. The guys caught a bunch of fish but at the very end Hank hooks a monster and after a chase he lands a monster yellow jack. Wow!

Bob and Jill were a blast to fish with and they were definitely competitive. Talking smack to each other was priceless as they kept the rods bent on mutton snappers, mangrove snappers, yellow jacks, trigger fish, big blue runners and a few fish we lost. The action has continued to be on fire and they definitely were having a great time! Capt. Mo Estevez 786-853-1409 www.MiamiBoneFishing.com Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

October 29, 2019 Report

Phillip and his very cool 10 year old boy Max got here from the U.K. to visit and Max being an avid angler wanted to head out. Well, all it took was one spot and Max got his fill. It was awesome hearing him say :dad, this is the best trip ever!". They catch a bunch of species and the action was red hot for snappers, yellow jacks and more.

October 25, 2019 Report (Tarpon Video)

After I booked he trip with Ariane from TX yesterday I looked at the forecast and it was grim with 25 plus MPH winds in the forecast, and the goal was fly fishing. Well, I woke up at 5AM to get ready and go to work and the wind was even worst. I took a deep breath, fought the temptation to cancel and headed out. Ariane is as sweet as they get and we idled to the first spot of the day hiding from the wind and surrounded by tarpon. We missed two bites on fly and managed to hook a few other fish on lures but they came off. I decided to make a move and fish another spot away from the wind where Ariane hooked and lost a big grouper and then it happened, she hooked a tarpon! After a 40 minute fight she got her fish and the day was a success, although it was blowing about 30MPH at this point. I was so proud of her, she fought that stubborn fish like a pro and got her big tarpon. Congrats girl!

October 24, 2019 Report (Video)

David has been hooked on the hot fishing lately and is finding any excuse to get out so we fished again today and he brought Eric from NY who just moved down to Miami two months ago. It was a bot breezy so catching bait took a little longer than I would have liked but after investing some time we got what we needed. There was only one spot we needed to fish and the fishing was on! David and Eric stayed busy with bent rods catching a variety of species but the highlight was Eric's catch. His rod doubled over and the reel started to scream and wouldn't stop. Fifteen minutes later Eric landed the largest yellow jack anyone has caught on my boat at about 20lbs. Wow! Welcome to Miami Eric!

October 21, 2019 Report (Snook Video!)

Alec is a regular local angler of mine and we have caught almost everything that swims in Biscayne Bay but for snook. He's had a dark cloud over him when we target snook, whether it's been losing 30lbers next to the boat, missing hook sets, spit hooks, you name it. So today he booked me for snook and getting the Biscayne Bay snook off his list. Our morning started at first light looking for bait and quickly loading up on tons of pilchards. Not far from where we got the bait we set up and dropped back two baits. Well, it looked ugly at first with Alec losing his first two snook to a broken line and then a spit hook. But the third one was the charm and we got it to the boat. After nailing his snook we hit another spot and it was on fire with Alec catching fish on bait, lures and flies. He caught plenty of mutton snappers and more. What an awesome day!
