February 19, 2020 Report (Permit Video!)

Will and I have fished a bunch before and then he moved to NY but he was back and as soon as he knew he was coming back he called me up and booked a trip. Will just wanted to relax and catch a few fish but with the tarpon starting to move in I had other plans. We hit a few spots and caught snappers, jacks and mutton snappers. But, now it was time. With the tide at the right stage I took him to a spot that has been holding tarpon and sure enough, they were there. We floated back two baits and let the do their thing and we waited, then it happened. I saw a slight movement of the rod tip, and then it doubled over and Will was on! Fifteen minutes later we landed a monster permit for Will and called it a day as we ran back to the marina engulfed in permit glory!

Eric joined me today for a 4 hour trip to keep the rods bent and we did. Finding snappers and jacks we went through almost all the bait in short order and caught some on lures. Wow, this trip went by so fast! Capt. Mo Estevez www.miamiboneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

I had a blast with twin brothers Brian and Ryan. They wanted to mix it up between fly fishing and spin fishing so we did just that. Starting with bonefish they had a few shots but not many so we changed it up and hit a wreck where they caught a bunch of fish on spin but they wouldn't hit a fly. At the end of the day we had a blast, the guys talked smack to each other and kept the rods bent.

February 14, 2020 Report (Bonefish Video!)

Wow, it's Valentines Day and the weather could not have been more perfect! Mike was celebrating his birthday today by going fishing and I had the pleasure of being his captain for a full day of bonefish on fly. The first spot as loaded with fish but the tide was extremely low so after having to get off the boat and push a few times the party started and it was school after school for about an hour. After a few close calls but no hookups we hit another spot and it was game on! Fishing a great winter time spot there were more bonefish and permit than you could count and here is where Mike got two bonefish on fly plus snappers, yellow jacks, look downs, blue runners a shot at tarpon and plenty of shots at permit. What a great day with a great guy!

I get so many cool people on my boat and today I had a really cool guy, Bernard from France with fly rod in hand. We searched all 8 hours for bonefish and they were MIA, this is a very rare occurrence but it happened today. So, in order to break it up we fished shallow ship wreck and Bertrand had a blast catching a bunch of species on fly. The trip ended with more searching for bonefish to no avail. WHat a tough bonefish day but Bertrand was great!

I had Ed and Dave today, long time friends from NY and we had a blast. As novice anglers they just wanted to catch a few fish. Well, they did more than that as they tore it up in spite of the wind. In the end, we used up all the bait right as we ended the trip and the guys had a blast catching pompano, mackerel, jacks, snapper, small grouper, yellow jacks and more. Some tarpon moved in and we fished for them for a while but they were on a diet and didn't want to play.

February 4, 2020 Report

Henry is back! Henry is a really cool guy and local client that books me a lot but he'd gone missing for a few months but he was back with Jake, Teddy the Shiba and Vidi. Henry likes to catch fish and there's no doubting that so with 7 dozen shrimp we hit the first spot that was dead. They made the comment that I always take them to the slow spot first and the second spot is always awesome. LOl Crazy guys! But, they were right! The second spot was on fire and since he loves jacks they were thick! Double hook ups were common and we had several triple headers along the way. Well, once we went through 7 dozen shrimp in what seemed like a few minutes I tied on lures and the craziness continued. What an afternoon!
