As the rest of the country is freezing and living in arctic like conditions, in Miami ti has been perfect. With a warmer than normal December the weather has been warm, skies clear and the fishing fantastic. While there have been some schools of pilchards around, my bookings and focus have been on other species that don't require tons of pilchards to catch.
The bonefishing has been the start throughout the first half of December but shark fishing the flats has been productive and fin as well. Fishing the finger channels has yielded plenty of action catching species like yellow jacks, a variety of snappers and more.
The few times I have spooked fish hasn't produced any hook ups but snook have been around as evidenced by them blowing up on our top water lures but missing.
There have been some juvenile tarpon around and they have been reliable targets early mornings.
That's it for the first half of this month's report. Have a great rest of the month!
Capt. Mo Estevez
