December 31, 2016 Report
Bud is a really cool guy who joined me today for a full day Charter. He works for an ad agency and is also working on several fishing films that he hopes to release soon. I went on his website and checked them out and they are definitely high quality solid films that are enjoyable to watch and very well narrated. We started looking for Tarpon and found some but could not get them to eat so we shifted our focus to other species catching a number of different species but ended up fishing for Bonefish. The bone fishing was good as we had about a half-dozen solid shots at schools of mudding Bonefish and cruising Bonefish.

Joining me today was Stuart and his teenage son. Stuart tells me he's not a big fisherman but his son is and like any good father he booked the trip to spend some quality time with his son. We fished the number of different spots catching fish throughout the morning and had a great time watching them not only catch fish but spend some quality time together. This truly is what fishing is all about.

Today I had two trips, one in the morning and a half day in the afternoon. My morning trip started off with Alex. Alex has become a regular client of mine and today he brought along his brother. We started off working the last of the incoming tide over grass flats and catching Snapper, Barracuda, trout, Jack and hooking three different spinner sharks that were in the area. Alex wanted to make up for losing a really nice shark last time so we tried to focus on the shark fishing and hit a different spot towards the end of the trip. I was marking a lot of sharks on my Raymarine and eventually hooked several but unfortunately as it is with spinner shark every time they jumped and spun they popped off.
My afternoon trip was with bear and his father and wanting to get away from the increasing boat traffic around Key Biscayne we headed south to some shipwrecks. Arriving there the action was good on Snapper and triggerfish and a few other species that kept the rods bent and the reels singing.

The last time Guillermo and I fished he brought his daughter along and she landed a 6-foot lemon shark all on her own. Quite impressive! Today he brought both his daughters along and the goal was snook and tarpon. Unfortunately the fishing was really slow and we didn't land any although we did hook and lose one snook and missed a few other bites.

Today's trip was with client and friend David and once again we were aboard his 32-foot Intrepid. Today we wanted specifically to target tarpon and we spent the entire half day trip on Tarpon but unfortunately every last fish had lockjaw and refused to eat. Very frustrating!
