February 13, 2017 AM & PM Reports

AM Reports My morning trip was with regular client Dean from TX and was in town for Valentines Day. Nice move Dean! As usual we started tarpon fishing but they were unwilling to play. In the meantime Dean caught a grouper that came up and ate a tarpon bait. Cool! Switching away from tarpon we kept the rods bent with snapper, hogfish, bar jaks and then the sharks moved in. Flip a bait out, mark them on my Raymarine, wait for it, zzziiinnnggg! Dean got a nice spinner shark giving him a nice jump and some smoking runs in the process. Way to go Dean!
PM Report Brandon fished with me in the past and today he brought two buddies along for some fun. Going right back to where I left off with Dean the action was still hot. The salient theme of the trip was lost fish since we lost 4-5 nice sharks some nice fish to the bottom and then missed a few trout bites as they came up and smashed the artificial lure. All in all we had steady action but suffered from rubber hook syndrome in spite of a double header on nice sharks.
