February 23, 2017 Report (Tarpon Video!)

George and his son George (G2 from here on forward) were referred by a great client of mine so with great tarpon conditions we sped off to tarpon fish. It was slow at first with no fish showing on my Raymarine or rolling but they suddenly came to life and minutes later we had a double header with 100 plus pound tarpons jumping and smoking drags heading in opposite directions. G2 did a great job fighting his fish while George was on point working his stubborn fish that wouldn't jump and burn up some energy. Twenty minutes in G2's fish is near the boat, just a few more feet for the release and the hook pops free. NOOOO! about an hour into George's fight and the fish ready to come to the boat for the release the braid breaks. URGH!!! All that work! As we kept tarpon fishing they caught a nice mutton snapper, missed a few bites and the tarpon shut down. We ended the day catching trout over the grass flats. Capt.
