July 29, 2016 Report (Video)

Regular client Alec boarded this morning and off we went in our search for snook. In spite of our best efforts no snook came aboard. The next spot was for big jacks and snook but no one was home. Tarpon proved to be better but we missed the first bite as a nice tarpon sky rocketed in the air attempting to eat Alec's bait startling both of us. The fish came back and ate the bait the second time but came off a few moments later. In the process, Alec landed two black tip sharks that were all over our tarpon baits. Running down to the flats, the first flat provided a great shot at a school of waking bonefish in super shallow water but no hook up in spite of Alec's good cast. A couple of flats later we had another shot at a big school of bonefish but the cast was off just a few feet and the school spooked. The last spot flat of the day provided another shot at two BIG bonefish in the 10-12lb range but we couldn't get a good angle on them. In desperation I told Alec to cast and he did but the fish bones were at a bad angle and spooked. The day ended with Alec hooking a few barraudas and landing one and hooking a nice bull shark on the flats.
