July 31, 2016 (Video!)

Thirteen year old twins Jake and Adam wanted sharks and barracuda. They thought it'd be fun they said, let's catch one they said! Well, they did, and the sore arms will come later. Gary and his two boys are from Miami and they fish with me a few times a year so off we went before school starts. The barracuda fishing was slow (weird!) but the shark fishing was not. Right off the bat Adam hooks a black tip that we sight casted and watched eat the live bait right in front of us. Unfortunately the hook pulled. A bit later one of the rods goes off and Adam gets a nice 5 footer to the boat. These boys have an intense rivalry and Jake was feeling the pressure. Now Jake is up to bat and a bit later a big 6 footer charges the bait and is off to the races. Fourty minutes into the fight the hook pulls again on Jake. Oh, oh! Moments later another one swims by, I cast and drop the bait in front of it, he swims up and eats and I set the hook. Jake is on again and after a nice run the hook pulls again! What's up with that? We change flats to catch the last of the tide and a few more big sharks move in but ignore our baits. Right as I'm about to call it a day another big shark comes in and ignores our live bait but eats the dead bait and Jake is on! Twenty minutes later he gets a 6 footer to the boat and the pressure is off Jake. Poor Adam, he thought he had the day won with the biggest shark of the day and in the 4th quarter with 8 seconds left Jake scores on a hail mary and steals the victory. Until next time boys!
