June 6th 2018 Report

I was back on David's boat today but we had a completely different game plan from the usual. Although there have been Tarpon around it's been tough to get them to eat so we decided to get a Live Well full of pilchards and head offshore. We stopped off in a hundred feet of water put out two big live pilchards and began our drift and pretty quickly Peter hooked up to a nice 20 pound Kingfish that we got to the boat. On our second drift Julian hooked up and had a nice fight but the fish spit the hook close to the boat. On our third drift we had one of our baits get eaten but the fish didn't get hooked and with the current slowing down on us the fishing definitely slowed down. We decided to run offshore some more and look for weed lines, pallets, barrels any kind of debris that would hold bait dolphin but we didn't find any so we ran back insore and caught a couple of jacks before calling it a day. On the run in I quickly filleted up a big mangrove snapper and that big king fish and there will be some good dinner tonight!
