June 1, 2018 Report (Tarpon Video!)

What a way to start June! The weather definitely has gotten back to normal and we had great conditions this morning as Patrick, Julie and their daughter Alysson jumped aboard for a half day. Spot number one was for tarpon but I only saw a couple of rolling fish so off to spot 2. Spot two proved to be the magic spot with us hooking up a double header right off the bat. Patrick hooked one about 150 as we saw a school finning on the surface and pretty active. As soon as Patrick hooked up Alysson's rod doubled over and she hooked up as well but hers got off immediately after the first jump. Chasing Patrick's fish I noticed something weird on the line and it turned out it was the rope attached to an abandoned crab trap. Unfortunately the line wrapped around the rope in such a way were the fish broke us off. We stayed another while but the fish had moved away so we did as well. We caught a few small trout and then Patrick decided he wanted another shot at Tarpon so off we went back to spot number two where we found some rolling fish. Julie hooked up almost immediately but handed the rod off the Alysson so her girl can fight a fish. After about 40 minutes the 130 lb Tarpon was almost done and Alysson decided it was time for Dad to have some fun as well so Patrick wrapped it up and we got the release on their biggest Tarpon to date. What a great way to end the day with some great people and an awesome way to start summer! Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing
