Last year Michelle had booked me as a surprise for her husband Jaime but a tropical storm ended that trip before it got started. This year was different, Jaime and Michelle climbed aboard on Mother's Day ready to have a great time. We targeted tarpon for the first part of the trip but the tarpon bite continues to be slow. Wanting to make sure they tangled with some Biscayne Bay big game we headed to some shallow flats. Chumming in 2 1/1' to 3' of water we hooked two sharks but they broke off and spit the hook. Finally, the third one was the charm and 1 hour later, we boat a big lemon shark. By that time it was time to head in and minimize the amount of hot water I would be in by working on Mother's Day.
