February 11, 2018 Report (Tarpon video!)

Austin fished with me a few months ago and we had a great time. This time we had some 20 plus MPH winds and an outgoing tide. So what to do? Target tarpon of course. Just a few casts in Austin hooks a big tarpon and the fight is on! Dealing with 6 foot rollers and a nasty chop we struggled to maintain position on the fish and kept getting swept out to by the strong out going tide and big tarpon. Eventually we regained control, got into a better situation and landed the awesome tarpon. Seconds after high fiving Austin says "ready for some calm water?" and off we went to the trout flats. Catching some trout Austin decided to call it a day early and we headed in. What a great morning with a great guy! Capt. Michael and Lisa booked me last tear but we cancelled the trip due to high winds. Today we had 20 MPH winds but definitely workable for bonefish on fly since we had great visibility. I definitely noticed a decrease in fish activity today getting only one shot at a school of mudding bones, We changed it up and caught trout on fly then jacks on lures.

Still targeting bonefish today but this time I had Rob on board with fly rod in hand. We had a solid number of shots but no hook ups. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

Reuven is from Bulgaria and was in town for some meetings but wanted to do some flats fishing. We started off targeting bonefish but it started slow then got better with Reuven having numerous shots at fish but as the trip wound down and the barracudas started to roam the flats we turned our attention to them and had a blast sight casting cudas. February 6th, 2018 Report (MUST WATCH VIDEO!)

Sometimes trips go just as you have planned however most of the time they do not and life has a way of surprising you every so often in a way that takes your breath away and this was the case today. Doug is a charter boat captain out of Maryland and his wife Candice works for the Department of Natural Resources so I had two big outdoors people today and they were a blast to fish with. We started off fishing for tarpon and the ones that were around were not feeding so we dropped the bait down and started hooking sharks. Candice had a blast catching hers and then it was Doug's turn but the first two sharks he lost, but as they say the third one was a charm. We got his third shark to the boat ready to release and with the shark just 15 feet away from us in crystal clear waters a huge 12' hammer head shark came up and started trying to eat Doug's 5 foot shark. That hammerhead made Doug's shark look like a small live bait! After a few moments of craziness, a frantic shark fight and some white foamed explosions, the dust settled and the big hammerhead won. WOW! We were all left speechless. We wrapped up the day catching trout with not much more being able to top this day! Capt. February 4th, 2018 Report (Video)

Another unusually windy February day this morning but Mark and Scott jumped aboard ready to catch some fish. Being too Breezy to fish for Tarpon off the beach we decided for the next best thing and target spinner sharks which I affectionately call brown tarpon. Catching some bait we ran over to the shark spot and immediately began to hook fish. After hooking several we got one to the boat and got the fun part out of another two fish mainly big arial jumps. Way to go guys! Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

February 2, 2018 Report

Teddy jumped aboard today out of Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo and we had just absolutely ideal conditions for Bonefish. With slick calm water and a dropping tide we headed towards the mangrove shorelines and there were plenty of Bonefish cruising around. After a number of shots at big fish Teddy finally hooked up but deep into the initial run the 10 + pound Bonefish broke him off. The wind started to pick up after this so we had to run back ahead of an approaching cold front but Teddy is absolutely hooked on bone fishing out and who could blame him!

February 1, 2018 Report

I was back on David's boat today and after catching some bait we decided to try to get his brother-in-law Norman on some sharks. In spite of our best attempts the Bay was shut down today and there were no sharks to hook today. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

January 27, 2018 Report

Today I was fishing with David from the UK and the goal was to do some Bonefish. However we had a significant obstacle ahead of us as the wind was blowing 37 miles an hour gusting even higher. But David was all in for bonefishing so we started our half-day making a long run down to the Bonefish flats and tucking in behind a key in an area that is usually pretty good for bone fishing. We gave it about 2 hours of chumming and looking for bones but none showed up except for a small shark that David landed. With time running out we decided to change it up and get some fish to bend rods so we headed back closer to the marina where we finished the day catching a bunch of fish and being glad we were able to find a way around this wind.
