August 22, 2017 Report Video!

Rod had booked me quite a few weeks ago and today was our day to fish. We met up at 10 am because of massive traffic that caused me to be on the road for 4 hours before getting to the marina. Ouch! Once Rod and his son Drew jumped in the boat, the day got better. These were two god guys and off we went to tarpon fish. We found tarpon, not many but we did, but they weren't in the mood. Well, the sharks were and so we live baited some jacks, had a blast with them and then used them for bait. We hooked 3 big bull sharks and landed one about 150lbs. It was good to finally get off the road, have a good day on the water and fish with two good guys. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

August 21, 2017 Report (Video!)

I had my reservations about fishing today because of the lunar eclipse but turns out I was surprised. Paul and his son Thomas jumped aboard again and this time they brought their friend Steve. We started tarpon fishing and that proved to be slow as well as trout fishing but it had been like that for a few days already so I don't think it was a product of the eclipse. We wrapped up the trip at another spot where we again caught a ton of hard fighting jacks and used one for bait. As soon as the chunk of jack hit the water it was engulfed by a big bull shark and Paul was on. Thirty minutes later we got the release on a nice 200lb bull shark right as it was time to head in. Not a bad way to fish on a lunar eclipse!

August 18, 2017 Report Video!

Today I had a great trip with Paul and his little 10 year old boy Thomas. We started off getting some live pilchards and then hitting a tarpon spot but although they were there they were not interested in feeding. Wearing thin on Thomas's patience tarpon fishing we hit another spot and absolutely crushed the Jacks. First fish of the trip was about a 5 to 7 lb Jack and next to the boat a giant Barracuda came and ate it up leaving only the bloody head. Quickly I put the bloody head on a big rod with some wire and dropped it behind the boat in the strong current and just let it sit. As we continued to catch jacks and watching them blow up on our bait the rod went off and we were on. After 150 almost 200 yd run we had to chase the big bull shark down and 10 minutes later the hook was straightened out. Bull sharks 1 us-0. We went back and repeated the process continued to catch Jacks and within minutes we were hooked up to another big bull shark which ended up breaking us off. Well as they say third time's a charm and that was the case as once again a few minutes later we were back on a big bull shark and this one we got to the boat, in the hundred fifty plus pound range. We wrapped up the day continuing to crush the Jacks and absolutely wore out Thomas. He had a blast so did we and we are scheduled to fish again on Monday. Capt. August 15, 2017 Report

Regular client and super nice guy Bill Hayes jumped aboard today with Eli Whiteside from the SF Giants. We tried tarpon fishing but missed a bite and that was the end of that. We tried a few more spots and had a blast catching jacks. We used some of the jacks for bait and chum and hit a shark spot where Eli got a solid hit but the shark never did get hooked. We cut the trip short so the guys could get ready for their game against the Marlins.

Local and regular client George brought his two little boys along again today Patrick and Evan. We started off fishing for trout since George wanted to have his boys catch a few and we missed a few bites but trout fishing was generally slow. I decided to make a run down to South Biscayne Bay where we fished one more spot and that one proved to be productive. The boys had their fill with Mangrove snappers and we had a big Barracuda come in a few times but we were too slow to react. However, a school of big bar jacks came through and George hooked up and after a long run, the fish broke us off on structure. Capt. August 11, 2017 Fishing Report Video!

Steve is from beautiful Asheville North Carolina and he brought his two sons along Will and Jay in order to do some shark fishing on the flats. Spot one produced a nice Jack for bait but we needed more and spot two proved to be slow so off we went to a shallow wreck that proved to be a hotspot. Keeping a half-dozen Snappers for dinner and catching more than enough bait for sharks we hit the flats. The first flat we arrived at was slow so we went to another flat where we hooked a nice shark but lost it to a straightend hook. Flat number 3 we hit just right and hooked another 2 sharks landing one about 100 lb right before we had to call it a day. It was a nice trip with some great guys and some cool video to boot. Capt. August 6, 2017 Fishing Report

David jumped on board today with his two kids and the goal was simply to keep the rods bent and keep the kids busy fighting fish. We fished three or four spots and all produced Rod bending action that kept the kids busy and David relaxing. Capt. August 3, 2017 Fishing Report

Today I was in Key Largo fishing the Sheridan House ministries tournament. And on board I had two great guys that were local Anglers. We targeted seatrout since Bob wanted to catch something to eat and target them we did. The first spot was slow but the second spot proved to be the hot spot and we ended up catching and releasing 24 trout in about an hour and a half keeping 10 for Bob's dinner and missing a number of other strikes and losing quite a few fish next to the boat. This was a great day with two great guys and a great tournament.

Some trips go just as expected and some others go even better and that was the case today with Josh his son who were visiting the University of Miami campus and their friend Jeff. They boarded the boat at 4:30pm when tee start time was 3 so they were running extremely late and I still had to be back at the dock by 7. No worries I had already caught some shark bait and since they wanted to hit the flats for sharks that's exactly what we did right away. At the first and only flat we fished we started our chum slick and in the hour and a half fishing time we had we hook 7 sharks and landed 4. It was a great afternoon trip and these guys were absolutely awesome to have aboard. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

July 31, 2017 Fishing Report

Fergus and his two friends joined me for an abbreviated morning trip of two hours. Since we didn't have a lot of time to work with we hit the first spot where we got a bunch of nice Jack's on light tackle and artificial lures. Then we switched off to trout over the grass flats and caught a couple before we had to head in. It was a nice quick morning trip with three great guys from the UK. Capt. July 30, 2017 Fishing Report

Today I fished an early morning half day with Marion and caught a number of species before calling it a day. The highlight of the trip was missing the hook set on a tarpon and some sharks. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

July 29th Fishing Report

Freddy and two lifelong friends joined me today as they were in town to watch The Real Madrid and Barcelona soccer game. Wie hit the first spot in the morning and absolutely got torn up by jacks with fish on almost every cast and then used some of those as bait and hum for sharks. When we hit the flats for sharks the fishing was solid hooking sharks pretty consistently but losing all of them. At the very end of our trip we hooked into a solid 150 lb shark on light tackle and fought the fish for almost an hour before it broke us off. It was a heartbreaker but I'm sure the guys were relieved to not have to continue fighting that monster on light tackle. Capt.
