April 21, 2018 Report (Tarpon Video!)

Today I was back fishing in Northern Biscayne Bay out of Key Biscayne with repeat client Dave and his nephew Andrew. I took a look at the tides and knew exactly what we had to do and so we did it. First spot proved to be the golden spot with Dave Landing 150 lb Tarpon and Andrew hooking another one about a hundred pounds getting some nice jumps out of it and then losing him deep into a late run. Saw a bunch more tarpon but we had run out of the bait of choice so we wrapped up the day catching some fish on light rods and artificial lures. Capt. I was out of all the Ocean Reef Club today with John and Patrick. It was an overall slow day this morning as we were bonefishing and although we found a few schools along a shoreline and then one big 10 to 12 pound Bonefish on the Oceanside flat there was not much activity to go around today. Today I was joined by Joris and his 16 year old son and our first stop was tarpon fishing which was slow. We changed it up quite a few times throughout the morning and although we caught trout and Jack's it was brutally slow. But we did hook and lost 2 sharks. Boy what a difference a day makes! Capt. April 18, 2018 Report (Tarpon Video!)

Back from vacation and I was fishing with David again today aboard his 32 foot Intrepid and we stopped off at the first spot put out one bait and started to organize his tackle when the rod doubled over. I grabbed the rod. handed it to him and he smiled and told me "no this one is yours" so Captain Mo was fishing for a change. The end result of a 30-minute fight was 120 lb Tarpon, my first in probably four years. Wow that was cool thank you so much David! Capt. April 11, 2018 Report

Today is my last day working before going on a quick vacation to NY and I had the pleasure of fishing with Tom and his son. We focused on fishing for lots of fish rather than one or two glory fish so we threw lures and caught a bunch of fish including trout, snapper, jacks and got into some tarpon.

April 10th 2018 Fishing Report

George was back in town fishing with me again along with his son Christian and his daughter Brooke. We were mainly targeting Tarpon and using both live bait and fly and it was a day of missed opportunities. We had two tarpon bites one on crab and one on fly and missed the bite on both and then we had two additional bites from permit on bait and missed the bites on those. Wow that was frustrating. We did end up catching some trout on flies and lures but I will have a hard time sleeping tonight thinking about those missed opportunities and what could have been. Capt. April 9, 2018 Fishing Report

Garrett and Jill joined me today and the idea was to Target Bonefish on fly. We started our trip by going to a Bonefish flat tucked away behind some man grows trying to hide from the wind and practiced double hauling. Once they figured that out of it thankfully the wind drop just a hair and we were on track. We pulled quite a few flat and found fish had some great shots at Big Fish but didn't hook any so we wrapped up the trip fishing a shipwreck on flying catching some fish there.

April 7, 2018 Report

Well the water temperatures are starting to warm up and I have been finding some Tarpon more and more each day so today I decided to focus on tarpon and while the first part was slow for Rich and Kendra the second spot proved to be the key. Pulling into the second spot we set up a drift and shortly afterwards Kendra hoax about 140 lb tarpon period after a giant jump the fish started right back towards the boat in the process tangling up in riches line and breaking off under the boat. How frustrating! We gave it a few more dress but didn't hook another fish so we moved on. The wind picked up considerably to over 20 miles an hour so we fix a couple more spots where the trout fishing was slow and the shark fishing was non-existent so we wrapped it up catching a couple more trout and calling it a day.

Today I fish with Darius, Terrence in gene from Dallas Texas. Darius was a regular bass fisherman so he was honed in on the skills but Terrance and Gene and hardly ever fished. After teaching them how to cast they figured it out and caught some fish however the fishing definitely slow down today. We caught some trout then hit a shark spot which was void of chars then went back to the trout plants and caught a few more to wrap up the day.

April 5, 2018 AM & PM Reports

Am Craig Andrea Louie catfish with me last year and Craig had landed about a 200 lb bull shark while Louie tore up the Jazz. Today we changed it up since the bull sharks have moved on but the fishing was still very good. Everybody caught fish had a blast and Louie insisted that I cash for him because it seem like everytime I cast for him he would hook a fish. It was hilarious because after that happened a couple times and started calling me the magic Captain. Kids are awesome!
PM My afternoon trip was with Tony and his son Chris. The wind picked up considerably in my afternoon trip almost the moment we started the pull out of it. But the fishing remains excellent and the guys caught a ton of fish and just tore it up. The Highlight was catching some nice Pompano's that pulled a lot of drag.

Wayne joined David and I on David's boat and after catching some bait we headed out to shark fish and hooked a few and landed one. Wayne had his hands full and David was able to get in on the action as well.

Samuel and Samuel Jr. from Chile joined me today and the goal was tarpon on fly. We found a bunch but this is a game of patience and 15 year old Samuel Jr. kept falling asleep. Dad wanting to make sure his son enjoyed the day decided to scratch tarpon and keep him engaged. We hit a grass flat and Samuel Jr woke right up catching a bunch of fish on lures and having a great time!

March 31, 2018 Report AM & PM Reports

AM There's always a certain amount of pleasure I derive from fishing with um students or alumni since I am a big um Hurricanes football fan so it was very cool to have Brent and Ned I'm bored today. Ned is a student at um and Brent came down to visit his son and spend some time with him so we hit the grass flats and it was so good we spent the entire trip on the flash just tearing up the fish on artificials.
PM Anytime I have a double I always wonder how the afternoon trip is going to go after I had a very good morning trip but today Greg and Mitch enjoyed an equally good afternoon trip. We went back to the same grass Flats throwing the same lures and had the same insane action all trip long. What a day today!

Today I had the pleasure again and fishing another father-son team and this time it was Kelly and his son. Kelly just sat back and watch his son figure out how to throw a spinning rod work lures and have great conversations. After only a few minutes his boy figured it out and was casting and working lures like a pro and reap the benefits with a steady bent Rod. Way to go guys! Capt. Guillermo and bibi are a very cool father and daughter team and local regular clients of mine. We kept it easy today because although we were going to fly fish winds were blowing 20 to 25 miles an hour so we stuck to fishing grass Flats using whores not tormenting ourselves throwing flies in that wind. We had a great time, Plenty of Fish and they took some home for dinner. Yum!

Today I finished with Aaron and his dad and had a blast once again throwing lures for sea trout and blue fish and Lady Fish. We look for Tarpon but unfortunately they were not around in the areas that we can fish in the LIE of the wind that we had to deal with today.

March 23, 2018 Report (Tarpon Video!)

Sometimes you just have a good feeling and that is what Todd and Tyler joined me following today. We started off at a tarpon spot that I had a feeling would hold some Tarpon and sure enough they were there. Finally I get to fine good numbers of carpet! First couple cast resulted in a hookup on a big hundred 50 lb tarponwood spit the hook after a couple of jumps. A few minutes later we found another group of fish drop the bait in and hooked up almost immediately. This time it was about a hundred sixty lb fish which we got a leader release on before 5 bull sharks to send it on it in obliterated it. We wrapped it up over the grass Flats catching a bunch of fish on floors and called it a day basking in the glory of silver. Capt. March 22, 2018 Report

Well back from Canada came Steve, Peter and R.T. when we fish last year on April Fool's Day tarpon fishing was in full swing in the guys caught a huge permit in a giant Tarpon. However this year was a little different since we had a cold front moves through just last week dropping the water temperatures pretty significantly pretty quickly causing the tarpon fishing to slow down. We did check around the found very few fish so we decided to shark fish which also proved to be slow. We wrapped it up over grass flat Towing lures and catching a bunch of sea trout and blue fish.

I fished with Anthony and Michael today on a quick half day trip. We stayed close to the marina and had a blast catching a bunch of different species on lures and then sped back to the ramp after having given tarpon fishing a quick try. Capt. I was back on David's boat today and Steve was the man of the hour and with some significant wind we decided to go shallow in his 32' Intrepid and catch some trout and bluefish. We ended the day hooking several sharks when the tide turned and kept the rods bent. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

Ken and Sherry are from Michigan and were in town for a week. Although I really wanted to get them a tarpon, a late season cold front pushed all the tarpon out for a few days and I had to go to my back up plan. We did a tour of Biscayne Bay starting out in Key Biscayne and ending up on the flats in south Biscayne Bay. We had a great time, they caught a ton of fish and the weather could not have been better!
