Silver and Gold. October 18, 2023

I had Barry again today and we started off fishing for small tarpon but didn't hook any of them.  Actually, we barely saw any of them, go figure!  Fishing a creek we did find snook where Barry landed one but lost three others when the snook would jump and spit the hook.  A few other times Barry had snook hit the lure right next to the boat and we could see their big mouths wide open trying to eat the lure, so cool!  We wrapped it up bone fishing where there were tons of bonefish swimming and we ended up hooking three and landing one.  With the amount of fish we saw we should have done better but it is what it is.

This is it! October 16, 2023

This morning I fished with Jake for a 6 hour charter.  Last time we fished Jan caught 11 bonefish!  Today we were looking for permit and some dinner.  The weather was perfect as it usually is in October and off we went.  The schools of migrating mullet were getting crushed we so made a detour and threw top water lures at the schools trying to land some snook but we ended up catching a nice jack instead.  We moved of for permit and they were MIA in spite of great conditions.  Off to tarpon where Jake had four tarpon blow up his top water and finally hooked one that got right next to the boat before spitting the hook.  Time to look for pilchards and get dinner but the pilchards were also MIA so we used live shrimp and caught yellow jacks and snapper.  Wrapping it up we targeted bonefish and in 45 minutes Jake caught three bonefish.  Dang, that's a nice day!

Launching Into Fall October 1-7, 2023

Here we go, my favorite time of year and right before I took off on vacation I was pretty busy already with god groups and great fishing.  The trips ranged from a guy's drinking trip with fishing rods to hunting down bonefish and permit.  The fishing has been solid the first week of October with the following going on:

Out of The Ocean Reef Club my guys were here to drink and maybe fish and in the process they caught plenty of snappers and jacks and lost three bonefish along the way.  The following day Barry caught his first bonefish in a long time and had tons of shots at early morning permit. My afternoon trip the same day was with Arman and his two friends and they loaded up on fish dinner with school master snappers and yellow jacks.   Wrapping up my week before I went on vacation I was with Jeff and his two boys and although they didn't land any snook, they did hook tarpon and then got worn out catching jacks and a number of different species.  It was a good week!

Wrapping up the month. September 30, 2023

I wrapped up the month with three great guys, Edward, Gustavo and Samuel from Texas.  They wanted to catch anything and have a great time. Samuel started off by hooking a high flying tarpon but it came off.  We struggled to get lots of action so we went shark fishing and the guys all hooked up.  Very cool!

Back from vacation September 28, 2023

After a nice vacation I was back to work with local client Arman.  Arman likes to catch dinner but conditions were right for a surprise so I took him to where we could accomplish both.  We had a steady stream of bent rods catching snappers and he quickly got his fill of fish dinner until his rod went off in a weird way.  Ha, I knew it.  After a nice fight he had his first bonefish to the boat and we ended up hoking two more.  Nice!

Bone before the vacation. September 9, 2023

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Aaron a few days before I headed off on vacation.  It is definitely starting to feel like fall with a bit cooler weather and less humidity plus signs of a few schools of mullet moving around.  I love it!  Anyway, Aaron was armed with a fly rod and we got some shots at bones and eventually hooked up and landed a nice bonefish.  The half day trip went by so fast and before we knew it we had to head back.  I love fall!
