September 28, 2016 Report (Snook)
Those of you that read my reports often have heard of my client and friend David since we fish very often together. Well, I had the pleasure of fishing with him again today and he brought his friend Peter along. Peter was great and while the action started slow for snook, our second spot was a hit with Peter and David catching a bunch of nice jacks and David landing a solid snook. The trip ended on the flats were we sight cast a nice spinner shark only to have him break us off and being ignored by another shark we were sight casting to.

I've known Mike for almost 30 years and some way or other we have always stayed in touch. Well, after 2 years of planning we finally got together and took his grandson out for a morning of getting 9 year old Nick on some fish. Arriving at a shallow shipwreck the action was immediate and consistent with Nick (and Mike) catching big blue runners, mangrove snapper and mutton snapper. Looking for larger fish I took them down to a few spots north of Key Largo but short muttons is what we landed. We ended the day with Nick having caught a bunch of fish and singing a song as he drove the boat. Can't beat an ending like that!

This afternoon trip was with Alex and his client friend and we hit the flats for bonefish. The fishing was certainly shut down only seeing one mudding bonefish. Visibility was good for the first part of the trip but deteriorated as a major storm was brewing over the mainland and eventually blocked out all the light.

A made a new friend today in local angler Jeff. This trip held a special meaning for him and I wanted to make sure it was a great trip. I am always humbled and honored when someone chooses me to be their captain for a trip that holds special significance to them. The morning portion was on fire with countless shots at bonefish in super skinny slick calm water. As soon as the tide began to come in the fishing shut down and we struggled the rest of the day but did manage to catch a few sharks along the way.

September 14, 2016 Report (Bonefish Video!)
We were on a mission today, really we were. Luke is a scientist with UMASS working with the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust, an organization that I am proud to be a member of. Our goal today was to catch bonefish is South Biscayne Bay, get a fin clip and draw blood for a DNA study. The goal of the study is to determine if pollution and other man made environmental factors are affecting the DNA of our bonefish. Right off the back we hooked 5 and landed 2. With samples taken we released the bones and ended the day with a shot at a big permit and covered by mudding bonefish.

Randy is from N.C. and was in town for a conference in Key Biscayne. Well, we went fishing. Randy was a great guy and caught a number of big jacks and got ignored a number of times by nice tarpon that refused to eat our baits.

Today I had local angler and native Miamian Jared. On our half day we began to look for bonefish and while we found a couple of schools, the action was definitely slow. Giving up on bonefish we hit a shallow wreck for bait for sharks but all we caught were snapers. Geeze! The day ended fishing for big mutton snapper where we missed a few hits but finally scored on dinner for Jared.

Chris and his girlfriend Francesca took a quick vacation from NY and visited Miami. With so much water around they got the urge to fish and fish they did! Chris landed a number of big jacks and Francesca got in on the action too. We tried for snook but the snook spot was a bit bumpy from the wind and we called it a day on a high note.

Kyle and his buddies were in Miami for a bachelor party and fishing was on the agenda. The fishing overall was slow but we did manage to catch a number of different species such as trout, snapper, barracuda and got into tarpon but no luck with the tarpon.
