March 7, 2017 Report (Bonefish)
Well, after having to cancel numerous charters due to the excessively high winds I was anxious to get back on the water today. My charter today was with Ron and Willy from NY out of the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo. An hour run later I arrived, piked them up and braved the constant 25 MPH winds. Working some leeward flats, which didn't feel leeward, Ron was able to land a nice bonefish while Willy got a shark. We wrapped up the day in a channel that was slower than expected but Willy got a mutton snapper to end the day.

March 2, 2017 AM & PM Reports
AM report
Gail from NM was in town with bonefish on his mind so off to the flats we went. I was rather excited with a early morning incoming tide and calm conditions. We poled for a bit and saw no life on the flats in spite of really good current. OK, weird. Plan B. Chumming for bonefish resulted in one small stingray. Ouch! What the...? We ended the trip poling around some more with no life in sight. Not good!
PM Report
Well, I can admit I was hesitant to get out for my afternoon trip but there is a saying that goes "you don't know unless you go" so we went, Marco and Roberto from Italy. The goal was to catch fish and with thick cloud cover, bonefishing made no sense. I took them to a grass flat I like and boy what a difference a few hours makes. The guys tore it up to the point we stayed on the same flat for 3 hours with lots of fish being caught on lures and more on flies and we lost a big permit on fly to boot. Wow! On our second and last spot we stayed almost three hours as we couldn't keep fish out of the boat. The guys caught a bunch more trout, some jacks and hooked 4 and landed 1 nice shark, just in time to get poured on on our run in. What a day!

Running down to Ocean Reef Club to pick up Eleanor and her friend Janet, I strategized on how to get these girls on fish. We were fishing a fun tournament where every species counted for the Bonefish Bonnies. Conditions were not bad but the fishing was brutal. In the end we had shots at sharks that refused to eat, caught 9 species and scored 145 points. Not at all what I had planned in spit of our best efforts. Time to lick my wounds.

George is a local angler with two of the cutest little boys and they boarded this morning to keep the boys busy. I took them to a spot that usually produces a number of different species and the kids had a blast and caught a ton of fish. They got worn out and two hours later it was time to call it a day. Great job boys!
