December 26, 2019 Report

Man, Alec is a machine that won't give me a day off! LOL Alec and I fish often and since he is a local he doesn't miss much fishing time but today he brought his friend, ex Navy sailor, Joe. The goal was to get on some fish and I did just that but I had bigger plans for Joe as he lost a big barracuda next to the boat and landed a few more fish including a nice lemon shark. When the tide was perfect we hit a flat where Joe caught his first bonefish, one of two he hooked that day! But I will admit, it was not easy as the wind was howling peaking at 27 MPH and intermittent rain. But, Joe got his bonefish and that is all that matters. Congrats Joe and thank you for your service!

Merry Christmas eve! I got a 6 hour charter in today with Mike and his wife Betsy and these guys were great! The conditions were tough as they have been the last week or so with high winds and cloud cover but we were bonefishing on fly and found an area that was in the lee and low water. Well, there were plenty of shots at schools of bonefish but we couldn't connect on fly. The last few minutes of the trip Mike switched to spin and a lure and hooked a monster fish that spit the hook after a few long runs. What a heart break! Capt. Paddy and his son Rory were recommended to me by a friend of his back in the U.K that has fished with me before so it was cool to finally get to meet them. He told me he wanted to catch a few fish with his son and have a good time. Well, at the end of the trip he told me he caught more fish today than he had his whole life combined. I love that! We mixed it up with a bunch of different species on the flats, wrecks and in the channels with sharks, barracudas, snapper, jacks and more.

Alex is always welcomed on my boat and we fished again today with his friend Ali who is in medical school with him. After catching some bait and fishing for barracudas it was time to hit the shark fishing and get Ali on one. She had never fished before and she was awesome! The total was four hookups and one landed but that one made the trip, or was it Ali who made the trip with her toughness and hilarious commentary during her epic shark battle? This was an awesome day! Somehow the pics and videos got deleted from my phone. What a bummer. Capt. Mo Estevez www.miamiboneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

When are tough conditions the perfect conditions? When you have a west wind, low tide and bonefish on the mind. With fly rod in hand, David from NY jumped aboard and we worked a leeward shoreline that was been producing for me for years with today being no exception. David had a bunch of shots at waking schools of bonefish but things didn't work out as the tide kept rising and the fish more difficult to spot towards the end of the trip. There were however a few casts he made that should've produced fish but the bones never did see the fly. Capt. December 13, 2019 Report

Today I was back on David's boat, his new 24 foot Pathfinder. There was a brisk wind that kept us on the search for fish as we tried to stay comfortable and dry. The plan was to hit a few of the finger channels and we did where we caught some fish but nothing to write home about. So, we hit the flats for sharks and hooked four but lost them all. So, we lost to the sharks 4-0.

December 9, 2019 Report (Bonefish Video)

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with 84 year old Diane and her fishing partner Santiago from Argentina. We started off with some shots at a couple of permit and then started to get more more shots at bonefish. Eventually we had one eat but didn't get hooked so we continued until I spotted 3 fish coming in at our 11 o'clock about 60'. I called it out to Santiago and he made a perfect cast. I instructed him to let the fly sink then yelled "strip, strip, strip!" As he did one of the bonefish peeled off from the school, tailed on the fly, missed it tracked it again, tailed again on the fly and finally got hooked. During the long run I saw a shark move in so I had to stop recording video and chase the bonefish with the motor in order to make noise and spoke away the shark. However, something happened that I thought was truly amazing, as I chased the bonefish down all of a sudden he stopped running and the line started to take a weird angle right to the bottom. Lo and behold the bonefish had lodged himself between a coral head and the bottom seeking protection from the shark. Some encouragement later the bonefish took off and we got him in the net for some Santiago's biggest bonefish to date. I can tell you this fish did more for me than for some Santiago as I've had a few trips already where we've had tons of shots at bonefish and some permit and can't seem to connect. Well after this one I will be sleeping well tonight!

Today I had a very cool trip with Stan and his twelve-year-old grandson who just wanted to catch fish. We had once again just perfect weather conditions so we caught some bait and ran to a shallow ship wreck where they caught 6 different species. We switched gears and tried to get some barracudas only to lose a nice one on the initial jump and the shark fishing proved to be slow today.

November 30, 2019 Report

I hadn't fished with Glenn for a month or so and he was back in town. Since he was fishing solo we targeted bonefish. The morning was red hot with ideal conditions and tons of shots at bonefish and a big permit. As the morning progressed a cold front started to move in and the visibility got worst so we ended the day fishing a shallow flat but no one was home.

Meat fishing, that is what was on the agenda today. Scott and his sons Brett and Jake wanted fresh fish to eat so they did. Once again, I netted some pilchards, and fished a wreck. There they caught big mangrove snappers, yellow jacks, trigger fish, small amberjacks, small grouper and the boys lost nice groupers the moment we got there. The action was red hot and they had a blast! Capt. Mo Estevez 786-853-1409 www.MiamiBoneFishing.com Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

I had a two boat trip today with Luis and Carrie aboard ready to fly fish. Luis went first on the bow and had plenty of shots at bonefish but it was one of those days where we came close a few times, with bonefish swirling on the fly but not eating. Urgh. I then took them to a wreck and Carrie caught a ton of fish on shrimp while Luis caught plenty on a fly rod. It was a cool day with some great people.

Craig, his wife and awesome Louie from Chicago were aboard today. Today was awesome! I loaded up on bait and hit a wreck and that is all we had to do. Live chumming got the action started and it was red hot from the get go. They caught small amberjacks, trigger fish, mutton snapper, mangrove snapper, blue runners, yellow jacks and more. What a fun day!

Back on David's boat today and we fished with Kivi today. After buying tons of pilchards we headed south and fished some structure that has been producing. Well, today was no different. From the moment we got there the guys were on and catching snappers, yellow jacks, and more. The action was hot! On another note, there are tons of tarpon right now but the clear water has made for a tough bite.

Dale, his wife Victoria and their son booked me for a half day trip with a late start. The late start cost us today since the bait was hard to find later in the day but we got some and we fished a shallow shipwreck where they caught yellow jacks, blue runners, snappers and a few grouper we lost to the structure. I fished aboard my client David's new amazing 24 foot Pathfinder bay boat. For what we do, this is definitely an upgrade from his former 32 foot Intrepid center console. We cheated today and bought bait today instead of catching it and used the day to run around, get him familiar with the boat and catch some fish along the way.

I had Raja and Emily again from NY and we were looking for bonefish under less than ideal conditions with a strong wind and high water. Thankfully, the wind was coming out of the west and we were able to fish the shoreline away from the wind. They had plenty of shots at bonefish but didn't get to hook one on fly. Capt. I had regular local client Kurt along with his son and girlfriend. We caught bait, loaded the live well and headed to a cut that had been holding fish. There we caught fish on every cast for three hours mainly jacks and losing a few snook. Capt. Mo Estevez 786-853-1409 www.MiamiBoneFishing.com Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

I arrived last night from Louisiana after a 15 hour drive and today I had Robert from Sweden on board. With really high water I decided to have him catch some fish before we chased bonefish. Well, Robert did just that including landing a massive mutton snapper we had seen crashing our live chum in the distance. As the tide dropped we wrapped up the day bonefishing where Robert hooked a nice one but it ended up getting eaten by a shark, a first for me. So frustrating!

November 9, 2019 My Louisiana Trip!

Well, well, well, what an awesome time in New Orleans. Since it was too cold for the fish to move in shallow and chase with a fly rod we sued spinning gear and lures and got 6 or 8 of them. What a blast, check out the video!

I was part of a 5 boat corporate charter today from 1-5pm and I was itching to show the guys a good time and get home since I'm leaving for New Orleans tonight to fly fish for big redfish in the marsh. After catching bait, 4 of the 5 boats rode together to the marina for pick up and then every one went their separate ways. I stayed close to the marina and looked for tarpon which were MIA but in the process the guys Scott and Dan caught their fill of jacks on bait and top water then we missed two bull shark bites before calling it a day. Wow, fishing has been so good! Chris is a local client of mine and he wanted to make sure his grand daughter Blue caught fish today. hadn't seen Blue in a while so it as good to see her again and with the well loaded with live bait, it was going to be good. Well, one spot is all it took for Blue and Chris to get their fill of fish as the action was on from the moment we got there. Chris was able to take home some fresh fish dinner and Blue caught a giant yellow jack. What a great trip! Capt.
