September 1-25, 2024 Report

Welcome back guys, or should I say, it's good to be back.  I had some trips in the early part of the month and then took a nice long vacation and came back to a full calendar of trips so here's the run down of the month so far.

The water temps are still in the mid to upper 80's but there has been a big push of mullet and pilchards migrating into Biscayne Bay during he second half of the month.  This is right on schedule and the fishing has definitely picked up. This month so far has produced good bonefishing and some snow but the highlight for sure was bonefish.  After the middle of the month, the beginning of the bait migration has sparked up the snook fishing and we've been catching snook on almost every trip.  Along with the bait come mutton snappers and while the fishing this last week has been slow, there are muttons around taking advantage of all the bat in the bay.  I have a few more trips before the end of the month as long as the weather improves.  Stay tuned!

Month End Report August 18-31, 2024

The month of August always allows me to take a breather from an otherwise really busy season and while many don't travel this time of year, it is actually a solid month to fish Miami.  I ended the month of August mixing it up fishing for snook, sharks, bonefish, permit, and dinner.

It began with two days of fishing with regular client Chris and we targeted bonefish on both fly and spin.  Both days were very similar as we had numerous shots at giant tailing bonefish early morning on fly and then mixed it up on spin and fly.  While we caught bonefish on bth days, the second day was great with Chris hooking 5 and landing four bonefish on fly.  The picture below illustrates how good it was.

The following trip was with Josh and his friend Andrew and Andrew's daughter Luna.  They wanted her to get her first bonefish.  We had tough conditions to sigh fish but we made it work and eventually Luna got her first bonefish.  Yes!

The last three trips of the month were "bend rods" trips where the clients want to catch anything fun and that is what we did and it was fun!  We caught sharks on the flats with Brandon and his two little brothers, then Ryan and his two friends from MA and NH hooked sharks on the flats and took home snappers for dinner and the last trip with with Jason and Scott.  On this trip we missed a few snook bites and a solid bonefish take but also landed a bunch of different species including barracudas, snappers and hog fish.  It has been a fun month and September promises a few fun changes and some cooler temps.  Stay tuned to see what's going on at the beginning of fall.
