That's a wrap! February 18-28, 2025

Well, I survived Valentine's Day at home and the balance of February was great. We had a couple of mild cold fronts that kept the weather cool and the skies crystal clear. The tarpon fishing sparked up again as we landed a few tarpon on fly and hooked a few more on spin on different charters. Meanwhile, on the flats bonefishing was fantastic with a bit of a slowdown towards the end of the month around the new moon and fishing in the channels has been fair with lots of sharks on the flats, including plenty of big barracudas in the 15 to 25 pound range. Yesterday we had a perfect calm day and while we hooked three bonefish and landed one, I kept my eyes open for permit, but only saw what looked to be one big permit about 100 yards away from us moving solo.  It's been a great way to wrap up the month with some great clients, solid fishing and some really nice fish to the boat. March is when Tarpon season kicks into high gear and I have high hopes that this will be a good tarpon season. Stay tuned and we will both find out.

Better Than Valentine's Day! February 1-17, 2025

Well, for the guys out there reading this report, I hope you survived Valentine's Day.  What a stressful day but thankfully we have fishing.  The month of February has gotten off to a fast start with warmer than usual weather and very stable weather, read no cold fronts and the nasty weather that go with them.  Overall fishing has been pretty solid so far this month.  On the flats, bonefishing has been exceptionally consistent with my anglers averaging 3-5 bonefish per trip, that's SOLID!  The snook fishing in Biscayne Bay has been a bit slow but as I write that I remember a trip a few days ago where we missed 4-5 snook bites on top water lures early morning.  The tarpon fishing hasn't been great but most of the solid fishing has been at night.  The few times I tarpon fished were terrible weather conditions in 20 MPH winds so my sample size is a bit small.  However, with clearing weather the tarpon should start to get active.  The finger channels have been fun but most of the fish have been small so I haven't been doing a ton of snapper fishing.  That's a wrap for the first half of the month.  Stay tuned for the end of month report.

Ending it Hot! January 18-31, 2025 Report

My oh my this January has been a cold one, but we've been able to get on the water almost every day and get some fish to the boat. Sure it took five layers for me to stay warm, but the fish didn't care, my clients were tough and we had a blast in the process.  This cold weather has caused the fish to become a bit lethargic but fishing a little deeper and slower has produced bonefish pretty consistently and as the end of the month neared, the air temperature started to warm up, the water temperature warmed up and the fishing has been pretty solid. The channels are starting to get stacked up with all kinds of species, such as yellow jacks, porgies, mutton snappers, and more while the flats are holding bonefish, sharks and barracudas. The good thing about this cold January is that it should be pushing massive amounts of tarpon into Miami and with this warm spell, it should trigger a solid tarpon bite over the next week.  So far this has been a solid 2025 and the fish have cooperated as expected.
