August off to a fast start! August 1-15, 2025

Man oh man, August has been on fire for the first two weeks.  First, it's been a bit breezy making the dog days of August anything but.  It has actually been rather comfortable on the water (for August) making for some nice days.  More importantly, the fishing has been on fire.  While most of my charters have been for bonefish and permit, quite a few of them have been "let's catch whatever and have some fun" trips and they haven't disappointed.  There have been tons of aggressive, high flying ladyfish around crushing lures of all kinds for anglers of all skill levels and tons of smaller snapper for the little ones that wanted to catch a lot before school starts.

There have been plenty of permit around and here is a picture of Grant who made a perfect cast to a permit riding on top of a sting ray and landing his biggest permit to date.  The small summer tarpon have also been around and first light has been the best time for them.  Bonefishing has been on fire and local angler Drew broke my previous record by hooking 23 bonefish and landing 19.  Wow!  It's been so good and so much fun that I'm having a blast right now watching clients tear it up!

It's hotter than you think, the fishing that is! July 16-31, 2025 Report

Well, well this was a solid way to wrap up July and kick off my birthday at the end of the month.  I had a good mix of pot luck fishing and species specific charters during these last two weeks.  The first bunch of trips were "catch whatever is fun" and we did.  It was a mixed bag with a few trips being very productive while a couple were a bit slow but we caught fish and had a great time.  Most of the catches were jacks, ladyfish, sharks and barracudas.  Then the last week of the month rolled in and we were targeting bonefish, tarpon and snook and it worked out.  I wrapped up the month with Henry and Mike where they hooked four tarpon on lures and then David and Harry where they caught a ton of ladyfish then we hooked 3 tarpon landing one and then wrapped up the trip with a nice snook.  There's been plenty of permit at first light and we've had plenty of shots but in typical permit fashion, they are tough to fool. Pretty cool way to end July!
