December 15, 2016 Report (Tarpon Videos!)
12/15
My regular client and good friend David and I were back at it hunting tarpon for his friend Warren. We found fish and began working a long string of rolling tarpon. On our second drift Warren hooks up and releases his first tarpon. The third drift got David a solid hook up but the fish broke off not long after. Deep breath! Our fourth drift was a home run with David hooking up again and releasing another nice fish. Having had their fill we switched gears and called it a day. The tarpon fishing has been solid with multiple fish releases each day!

In town for a conference, Will, Brad and Andrew decided to go fishing instead of hanging out in the hotel. We only had to fish one spot and while the tarpon were MIA there were others to take their place. We lost a few fish and then caught bait for sharks. The sharks were thick and we hooked about 6-8 before heading in. At one point there were 3-4 sharks surrounding the boat eating whatever we would throw at them. What a blast!

Ephrain is from NY and was in town visiting relatives so with fly rod in hand we hit the bay. He quickly got a few fish on fly to break the ice and between fly and spinning gear the rods stayed bent with species such as grouper, snapper, trout and more.

Eitel is from Italy living in Ohio and tried to fish with me two years ago but we had to cancel due to weather. Today was a close call as well but we decided to head out in spite of the threatening skies. We fished two and a half hours before calling it a day due to constant heavy rain but there was good action during that brief time including landing a nice spinner shark in the middle of a torrential rain storm.
