December 16, 2017 Report

Jean-Yves boarded today with his wife and we did a bit of potluck fishing changing it up a bit from wreck fishing to trout fishing. The conditions weren't great for tarpon so we had decided to mix it up. We caught trout, snappers, jacks and a few more species. Capt. I was back with David on his boat today with a few boys from his synagogue and off we went to been some rods. We looked for big bull shark but that fishing was slow so we changed it up and headed south to a couple of fishing spots that produced Big Time for the boys. Here they learn to cast and bait their own hooks. In the end they were more thrilled at the new skills they learned than the fish they caught. Smart kids! Capt. December 14, 2017 Fishing Report

Every now and then you get a couple of guys on the boat that are not only best friends but are also Father and Son and that was the case today with David and his Sun. They were in town for a tennis tournament where the kid was rocking it in the tournament so after one of the matches we met up at the marina and headed out to Target Bonefish on fly. The water temperatures were a chilly 61 degrees and try as we may we found 0 Bonefish in their winter spots and very little life on the flats. Changing it up we fished a few other spots where we caught an assortment of species both on fly and on spinning tackle. It was a great day with two great guys and it is awesome to see a father and son get along so well.

I was back on David's boat again with a friend of ours and a new guest by the name of Barack. We had a great time and we started off looking for tarpon. Unfortunate tarpon were staying away from their usual spots so we decided to head offshore. Once offshore we target macro and kingfish but we didn't hook any and no one no one around us did either so we had it back in short. Once in sure we hit a shallow shipwreck where there were some small amberjack at provided a lot of fun and had a 30 lb Barracuda try to eat one of them right next to the boat. Capt. December 11, 2017 Fishing Report

It's been a couple of days with really tough conditions courtesy of this massive cold front that just blew through and our overnight temperatures have been in the high 40s. Well Steve and his son-in-law are from Cincinnati so that is not cold weather to them although I was absolutely freezing. We had it out and focused on catching dinner where the guys caught a bunch of trout but they were all just short of the legal size. However they came through was landing at nice trout unfortunately we lost a few other really nice keeper Trot right next to the boat due to spit hooks. When all was said and done the guys had a great time and I rushed home to take the hottest shower that I could and thought out.

December 9, 2017 Fishing Report

Well today was definitely one of those days. I had two trips scheduled for today my morning trip was with Alan who is a regular client of mine from France in my afternoon trip was with James who is a regular local client. The weather forecast called for some pretty tough conditions but Alan and I decided to go for it and we were able to get about 3 hours worth of fishing in before all hell broke loose. It was a significant cold front moving down and barreling down towards us so we fished until we can see the edge of a cold front coming right over us in the winds went from 20 to 30 miles an hour in higher forcing us to head back to the Marine as fast as we could and I ended up canceling my afternoon trip with James. Maria is a doctor from Connecticut in a real cool lady and a big fly Fisher woman to boot. Following the same pattern as yesterday we decided to look for Tarpon but this time they were hard to come by although we did sit on top of a school for a while of rolling fish but didn't get one to eat the fly. Having only a couple of hours left we decided to once again hit the grass Flats and although we hit it during the slack tide and it was slow once the tide turn the fishing got better and Maria was able to get a few species including sea trout on fly.
