September 9, 2018 Report
Sunday afternoon charters are not my favorite but Juan from CA wanted to do some fishing instead of laying by the pool so we met up at 11:30am and off we went. The first two spots were slow so we ran south and hit a wreck that started to produce immediately with snappers and a barracuda that ate two nice snappers. We got one of the halves of a snapper the barracuda had eaten and tossed it back on a bigger rod and he ate it, Juan reeled tight and the barracuda spit the hook, twice! Urgh!!! As this is going on some nasty storms were building towards out south and moving towards us. The fishing was good enough that we decided to fish in the rain but we moved to the flats once the thunder and lighting started to appear. Once on the flats we stayed for about 20 minutes before being chased back to the marina before all hell broke loose on us.

Honeymooners Eric and Dearvhla are from Michigan and got married yesterday so they wanted to do something different while in Miami and Eric really wanted to catch a shark. Stopping off at a spot I use for bait, we got what we needed and hit the flats. Some weather was moving in and they decided they didn't mind getting wet and it paid off as we hooked 4 sharks and landed two before we sped back to the marina in order to not get rained on again.

Back on David's 32' Intrepid with 6 young guys and the goal was to get them on a bunch of fish and keep the rods bent. Well, it was a rough morning with rain storms encircling us, chasing us around and not letting up until we got back to the marina. I really wanted to go offshore with the guys and target some drag burning kings, tuna and others but the conditions were very breezy making it sporty off shore so we stayed inshore. In the process we caught some snappers and released a grouper all the while being cut off by the rain from all the other spots we wanted to fish.

Erik fished with me last month and kept mentioning how his girlfriend Elifa would love to do this so today she joined us. We hoped around different spots catching sea trout, snappers and other stuff and we wrapped it up targeting and getting nice mutton snappers at the end of the trip.

I had Austin from NC onboard again today and we always have a great time. We looked for snook and tarpon but no go there so we changed it up and caught a bunch of nice jacks as we waited for a bite from the tarpon that were around the boat but on a diet.

You never know who you'll fish fish and on board today was former boxer Jim and his son Ian. We hit a few spots in the early morning and struck out on snook and tarpon so I decided to head south and fish the central part of the bay. This turned out to be the tiket as they caught tons of snapper and lost a huge cuda that they hooked and skyrocketed into the air.

I was looking to fishing with Kevin again and today he brought his son Zach and nephew Terrence. They wanted to target sharks so we caught some bait and hit the flats. Zack and Terrence each caught their sharks within minutes of setting up and then it got slow from there. After that we wrapped up the day using the rest of the bait catching snappers.
