July 19, 2019 Report (Bonefish)
Having great conditions today for early morning bonefishing, I suggested to Joe and his wife Sarah we should target them first before targeting their bucket list species, barracuda. So, we hit the first flat and right off the bat Sarah hooks a nice bonefish but looses it at the boat, about a 9lber. Joe got his bonefish and we had two more bites we missed. After getting some live bait, we hot the flats where Joe and Sarah got their barracudas. Great trip with great people today!

Local and regular client Henry joined me today with his friend Jake and his Shiba, Teddy. This was an afternoon trip with a huge low tide and little water on the flats. So, we hit the flats first and they hooked a couple of sharks. Then with almost no water on the flats we hit a wreck and they took home fresh fish dinner.

I had local anglers and Aregentina transplants Rodrigo and his two boys, Fuca and Franco. We bonefished for a while but it was slow so we hit a ship wreck and they were able to get warmed up and Rodrigo catch a few fish on fly. Back on the flats they caught sharks and a few barracuda fell victim to flies.

Bernd is from Germany and his wife and daughter came along. I took them to a shipwreck where they caught a bunch of snappers and used some for bait once we hit the flats. On the flats they caught sharks and hooked barracudas.

My trip today was with Scott and we had a great time. With fly rod in hand we had to stick close to Key Biscayne but found tarpon and bonefish to throw a fly at. Briefly switching to spinning rods and soft plastics we had a tarpon eat the soft plastic but not get hooked.

Well, well, well, I had a defensive lineman for the Pittsburg Panthers, a new rival for my Miami Hurricanes football team. His name was Devine and I tormented him all morning. Joining him were David and Grayson. No bonefishing today but we caught some bait and hit the flats for sharks where the guys had a blast hooking about a half dozen sharks.

Bob and Sue were very cool people and they wanted to try saltwater fishing for the first time since they live here 6 months out of the year. Bonefishing was tough so we targeted snapper and got things warmed up. Then we hit the flats again and there Bob fought a 30lb barracuda for a while before losing it close to the boat and they also caught some cool sharks.
