April 4, 2017 Report

Day two with Scott and today was Tarpon day. We fished far and wide for Tarpon and other species but it was slim picking today. Tough day! Capt. Mo Estevez www.MimiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing

April 3, 2017 Report (Tarpon Video!)

I love Tarpon season and I love April in Miami and now Rohan from Atlanta and his mom love Tarpon season as well. On a quick half day we hit a tarpon spot and 45 seconds after our bait hit the water Rohan was hooked up to a hundred and twenty pound beast that was absolutely insanely furious with him and gave him some blistering runs and amazing jobs. 35 minutes later we had the fish next to the boat and got the leader. Right before the trip was over the rod doubles over again and Rohan is hooked up to another tarpon this one about a hundred and forty pounds and much tougher and meaner than the first one. 50 minutes later and quite a few jumps later Rohan had his second tarpon release and his arms feeling like jelly but the big smile on his face revealed that he is hooked on tarpon fishing. Congrats Rohan!

April 2, 2017 AM & PM Reports

AM Report My morning trip was with Ken and his 2 boys Heath and Cole and the goal was steady action. We ran over to the Port of Miami where we caught a few fish but nothing spectacular however Heath was in for a nice surprise when he hooked up to a nice black tip shark on light tackle and the boys had to tag team the shark to get it to the boat. We tried tarpon fishing for about a half-hour and although they were rolling around all around us we did not get a bite and the kids decided action was a better course. We wrapped it up over the grass Flats where they caught some trout and finished off the day on a high note.
PM Report my afternoon trip was with Scott from Maryland who is a regular client of mine. We tarpon fished for a little bit but the boat traffic on a Sunday afternoon in Biscayne Bay was too much to handle so we decided to run south of fish the flats for sharks. On the flats there was a lot of activity but the action was slow never the less we hooked two sharks one on light tackle that absolutely smoked the real and landed a nice lemon shark to wrap up the day.

April 1, 2017 April Fools Tarpon/Permit

Some guys know how to party and Steve from Canada is one of those guys. Staying in Miami on his bachelor party all he wanted to do was fish. Steve was first up and the first bite of the day was a 40lb permit. Dang Steve! Second bite was for Peter and he landed a 160-170 lb tarpon. Dang Peter! Angelo was up and we changed it up since the guys wanted to catch a few trout. A few trout were caught but Angelo hooked and lost a big 150lb tarpon but lost it on the first jump. The day ended with one last tarpon shot.

March 31, 2017 Report

This was brothers Will and Carter's first saltwater fishing trip and with a slow tarpon bite, I decided to get them on some other species. They caught some mutton snappers, bar jacks, horse eye jacks, trigger fish and then ended with a blast on sharks.

March 29, 2017 Report

The Bonefish Bonnies tournament was on the agenda today with Jeannie and Linda. Fly fishing only the bonefishing was tough but got better as we worked north. While we didn't land any, the ladies had quite a few shots including shots at a couple of schools of 50-60 fish each. Capt. Scott and Dan joined me today and we spent the first couple of hours Tarpon fishing on fly and with bait but no bites. We fished a bunch of spots and caught some fish in both but it was generally slow today. Capt. Mo Estevez www.MiamiBoneFishing.com 786-853-1409 Follow me on Instagram @MiamiBoneFishing
