June 1, 2016 Report

Aboard today was regular local client and fly fisherman Steve. The goal of today's trip was very simple, just to catch some fish on fly and I love these kinds of trips because it gives me a lot of options. We started off looking for Tarpon but with the exception of seeing two rolling fish it was extremely slow so we didn't put a lot of time into that and changed it up. Fishing some grass Flats Steve caught a couple of nice trout on fly but it was still slower than I would have liked so we ran down to the Bonefish Flats. The first flat was slow but the second flat had a nice group of about 15 to 18 Bonefish in the eight and nine pound range. Steve made a great cast put the fly right in front of them and worked it back, the fish had an interest in it but never committed. Ouch! We wrapped up the day on the grass flat just a mile from Steve's home where he caught lady fish, blue fish, trout and Spinner sharks on fly. It was a great way to end the day!
