June 21, 2018 Report (Snook video)

After taking a few days off to go camping in North Florida and enjoy those beautiful natural springs I was back at work today with local and repeat angler Tom. Tom had never caught a snook so the goal was to get him his first snook so picking up some bait off we went. The first spot was slow although I was marking plenty of snook, did not get them to eat but in the process we did catch a few other fish to keep the rods bent. The second spot proved to be the key where almost immediately Tom got his first snook, and a slob at that! We saw some smaller tarpon move through and a little bit later the rod doubles over and Tom releases a second snook. During our time at this spot he hooked a few more fish, some came off right away and some came off after blistering runs. Then things became a little slow so we hit one more spot where Tom caught a bunch of big Jacks and had three Tarpon blow up on his bait but not stay on the hook. One of the bites was awesome as the tarpon came right out of the water open its mouth and clobber the bait just a few feet from us. It left us laughing, slack-jawed and having a blast. Capt.
