Week 1 Report. October 1-6, 2024

Well, the first week of October provided both great weather and terrible weather. The terrible weather has been courtesy of now hurricane Milton out in the gulf and definitely had us working in some tough conditions towards the end of the week. However, the first part of the week the weather was absolutely gorgeous and fishing was firing on all cylinders. The first part of the week was easy to locate schools of pilchards and clients Barry and Alec both were able to take advantage of that. With Barry, we had Tarpon eat top water lures but come off on the jumps and then, as we focused our attention on cast netting live bait, we were able to live chum the channels and had a blast catching mutton snappers, and yellow jacks. The situation was the same later on in the week with Alec except we ended on a high note with Alec getting a nice bonefish. It's always such a thrill to catch so many different species especially bonefish on the same trip in Biscayne Bay. Towards the end of the week and into the weekend we started to feel the effects of Milton and Steve along with his son Kyan jumped in the boat for a half day charter targeting snook. The forecast seemed promising for the first half of the morning and the radar was relatively clear but the weather had different plans and we ended up fishing two hours but catching snook during that time. By time we got back to the dock and the guys left the rain was coming down pretty hard.  I have the next few days off as we wait for this storm to clear. I'll be back to work on Friday and I'm sure it'll be awesome just as fishing should be this month.
