August 26, 2016 Report (Snook, Tarpon Video!"

Chad is from WV and was in town with his wife so off we went at 6am for an early start. Spot one had just a couple of tarpon so we moved. Spot two was really all we needed as it was on fire. Chad hoked 9 big snook, landed 7 and we missed a few more bites. To add to the drama, he hooked and lost a fun size tarpon but not before we enjoyed a few big jumps and got one on video. Spot three had a bunch of tarpon stacked up but not feeding. What was feeding were small black tip sharks that kept us excited with each bite. Chad was a pleasure to have aboard and I was glad he caught his biggest snook to date. Congrats Chad!

Phil and his wife Michelle are local anglers and joined me early this morning for bonefish and permit fishing. The conditions couldn't be better with a clear windless morning and an early morning low tide. Throughout the morning we had a half dozen shots at permit, both cruising and tailing as well as 4-5 shots at big schools of redfish and a few shots at bonefish. There was decent action although slower than anticipated but all in all we had some good shots. However, Phil and Michelle were great to have aboard and when they left I felt like I had known them for years. I look forward to fishing with them again soon. Capt. Day three fishing with Scott and Mark and today we stayed close to the marina because we were fishing a half day. Fishing a few spots the action was slow but we did manage to get into the big jacks again and trout and had a great time wrapping our time together. Capt. Day two with Scott and Mark and today we started off bonefishing but it was slow so we changed it up. Catching some live bait we hit the flats for some shark fishing and it was solid. The guys ended up catching 6 and hooking another 3 or so that came off.

Scott and his friend Mark joined me today for three days of fishing and today we stayed close to the marina and tore it up. Using live pilchards big jacks kept the rods bent, the drags screaming and the action non-stop. At one point Scott had to take a break because the jacks were just abusing us. I like that!

Sammy rocks! That's all I have to say. John and his 9 year old son Sammy joined me today for a morning of fishing inshore and they were great. While the fishing was slow and storms threatened throughout the trip, we still caught some fish and had a great time. There were no snook or big jacks around and the tarpon spot we fished held a few tarpon but the surprise was big trout at the tarpon spot. That's a first! John and Sammy caught a few big trout and sharks before we called it a day.

August 13, 2016 Report

Brian and his friend Mark and I fished last month and it was tough fishing for sharks. Brian loves sharks and wanted to catch one so that was our goal today. We had some pretty significant wind but were able to make our way to a bait spot that I like and caught some live bait before heading down to the flats. With the live well containing what we needed for the rest of the trip we headed down to the flats and begin shark fishing. Not 5 minutes after setting up one of the rods goes off and Brian is on to a nice lemon shark. Some blazing runs and head-shaking action later we have his first shark of the day, and nice 5 footer. Mark was next and after that spot not producing any more sharks we moved on. The next flat was full of sharks but they were being extremely picky and of the dozen-or-so sharks that moved in we hooked just one which Mark landed. Before the trip was over we fished one more spot and it was full of sharks again but once again they refused to eat. None of my usual tricks worked as the sharks were on edge and not very aggressive. As a side note there were permit everywhere on almost every flat we fished. But focusing on sharks I did not buy live crabs and I was agonizing all day long!
