Ending the month on a high note! April 30, 2021

Today I had two trips scheduled but the morning client never left a deposit and never responded to my calls or texts so I moved Jeff from afternoon to morning and it was fine by me.  I love fishing with Jeff and his boys Will and Drew but Will is in college so we were missing one.  Drew was set on catching a bonefish so we took advantage of the tide we had and Drew capitalized landing the first bonefish he hooked and hooking a bigger one later but the hook came free after a long run.  Ouch!  The trip wrapped up looking and fishing for tarpon but no bites.  Congrats Drew!

What an intro April 29, 2021

Leo moved from Argentina and is a fishing junkie and being new to Miami he wanted to try inshore fishing.  Having great conditions and little time to work with on a half day I had to stay focused and stay on schedule.  Tarpon fishing, very few fish, off to snook.  Snook fishing was a blast with quite a few fish hooked and landed along with nice jacks.  But, something ate one of the jacks and then I realised it was a big bull sharks so the next jack caught was bait and we hooked the big bull and it was a blast.  The day ended with ladyfish giving us some drag burning, high jumping thrills.  Welcome to Miami Leo!

Missed opportunities April 27, 2021

Back with Alex and Andrew but with the wind increasing we were out of Miami today instead of Homestead.  We had good conditions overall early on so we looked for tarpon but not finding big numbers we decided to look for snook.  Well, we found them but we lost quite a few only landing one.  I can tell the second fish Andrew hooked was a slob snook but, it, came, off!!!!!  Wow!  Along the way the guys caught other stuff but those lost snook will haunt me.

Going to plan B April 26, 2021

Booked for tarpon, bonefish and permit Ryan and I were excited to get on the water.  Unfortunately the fishing was shut down for the big three so we changed it up.  Fishing for snook was also tough with few hits and missing the couple of hits we got.  In the process Ryan did get a nice jack to end the day.

Jaws on the flats April 25, 2021

Alex has been fishing with me for years and he was back with his friend Andrew.  The bonefish and snook fishing were slow but we caught some bait, hit the flats and caught lemon sharks.

Drew Crossed This One off the List April 24, 2021

Local angler Drew wanted to try bonefishing so I was all in.  We started early morning to catch the right tide phase but it was really windy out of the east but we went for it anyway.  Almost right off the bat Drew hooked a massive bonefish that got deep into the spool before it broke off.  Ouch!  After hooking two more bonefish and losing them for different reasons, the fourth fish was the one.  Another big fish hooked later we were able to land this one and cross it off his list.  We wrapped it up later that morning as we couldn't locate permit and very few tarpon.

From one extreme to the other April 22, 2021

Day two fishing with Alec and today I decided to take him to Everglades National Park for a change of scenery.  I had just gotten my COVID19 vaccine last night and wasn't feeling all that great with little energy but I pushed on, made the long drive and made the trip count.  I timed the tides just right and it actually turned out to be better then I anticipated since I got to the first spot on what should've been the slack tide waiting for the incoming tide but instead the tide was running late and we caught the end of the outgoing tide.  I didn't mind since I love that tide phase anyway and it was great.
