December 29, 2017 AM & PM Report (Tarpon Video)
AM Report
Bob and his son were my morning trip and they were great! We ran the beach for tarpon since we finally had some good conditions and hooked four tarpon losing all of them. What a bummer! There are a lot of tarpon off the beach and the fish have been very cooperative. We ran back inshore for the balance of the trip where they got a big bull shark after a tough 40 minute fight. These guys were great and I love watching dads spend time with their kids.

Here we go, jumping on David's boat again for my afternoon trip and I was holding my breath. He wanted to target sharks for his guests and we did. Thankfully the sharks were thick and we hooked 5 in short order. Although we lost all 5, it's hopefully the start of lifting the dark cloud that has lingered over his boat.

Local angler and regular client Guillermo jumped aboard today with his two daughters, Bibi and Paola. The fishing was slow in the creeks for snook since the tide was too low so we hit some wrecks where the action was non-stop and wrapped it up catching trout although the trout fishing was slow.

I'm starting to get concerned here with David's boat. We fished on his boat today and the fishing was absolutely dead as Joe and his crew experienced. I'll give you more insight into why I'm concerned in my report below.
PM Report
My afternoon trip was with brothers Daniel, Mushy and Benji. Incidentally, they are the nephews of David's friend Warren who had caught some nice tarpon with us last year at this time. In any event the fishing was red hot with the boys having their hands full with bend rods right from the get go. And this is why I'm concerned with David's boat. Maybe someone put a hex on it? Maybe it's fish mojo has run out? I don't know but today proved to me one very comforting truth, "It's not me, it's you"!

AM Report
My morning trip was with Ian, his brother Peter and his nephew Jude and being from England they wanted to catch different species. We hit one spot and that is all we needed. Here they had a blast catching jacks until some bull sharks moved in. This is when Jude had a blast as he is the angler in the family and hoked a nice bull shark that we were able to sight cast. After a long fight the bull jumped clear out of the water and broke him off. It was time to end the trip at this point and we headed back. Jude was amazed at the size and power of saltwater fish in general, especially sharks.
PM Report
My afternoon trip was with Dale and his son and our trip was a repeat of my morning trip bu we added sea trout to the list of species caught.

Merry Christmas everyone! I had a short trip today and my guys wanted to fly fish. We ran the beach for tarpon but they were MIA so with the time we had left we targeted sea trout but that was also slow. We ended up taking advantage of the tide change and caught a ton of nice jacks on flies and spinning tackle including having a blast catching them on poppers.

Todd and his son have fished with me in the past and joined me today. We tried to target tarpon but it was too breezy so we did something else. Staying close in to avoid some of the wind in open water we focused on fishing shallow wrecks where they caught a bunch of snapper and had a great time.

My afternoon trip was with David and the hot fishing continued with the guys catching a variety of species including sharks.

Well, its been cold in Miami and today Mary joined me for a cool morning on the water. Mary is a Dr from CT and a really good fly fisher woman. We hit tarpon first and they were there but wouldn't eat a fly. After about 30 minutes they vanished and we left. The trip ended on grass flats where Mary caught some trout on fly.
