July 30, 2014 Report

Today was the first day of lobster mini-season and there were hundreds of boats on the water diving and snorkeling for the spiny critters severely limiting where we could fish. Alejandro and his son Valentino from Argentina and his sister jumped in and we headed out. After a passing storm, conditions became gorgeous and the fishing turned on. They caught over 30 fish including numerous nice hard fighting jacks on artificials and bait. Alejandro hooked one tarpon on artificial but lost it immediately and we lost another one on bait a bit later. At the end of the day we had almost run out of bait and the lures showed significant signs of wear, always a good sign!
