Pat is from the west coast of Florida and has caught everything except bonefish. The last time we fished he had some shots and a few fish appeared to eat but never hooked up so we were giving it another shot today. Conditions were truly perfect so to work I got with Pat on the bow. He had some shots at the first spot but when the tide was right I decided to make a move. But, moments into the trip I rig a shrimp for him, he drops it in the water and a snook eats it next to the boat. What a start and how bizzare! I took a bit at the new spot but eventually we began to see tails, wakes and Pat was on point. The first shot was solid, the fish swirls on his bait, he feels the tug and sets the hook, a big NO NO! The second shot was similar but this time he did everything right and still no hook up. I'm starting to feel the pressure. Then I see a bunch of tails working their way towards us and I pole him into positions. I can tell it's a big school but can't tell where the lead fish are so he made a long cast and let it sit. Moments later there's a swirl, the line jumps and he's on! A solid fight later he netted his bonefish. Whew! We had a few eats after that and then called it a day. Congrats Pat!
